The National Merit Scholarship Corporation(NMSC) recognized 36 seniors from Jesuit High School

as semifinalists in the annual Merit Scholarship

Competition, representing the largest number of

honorees at a Louisiana school and the largest number

of semifinalists among Catholic schools in the united

States, according to data provided by the NMSC.

With 36 National Merit Semifinalists, Jesuit ranks

among the top 25 public and private high schools

in the country. Jesuit’s honorees make up 16% of

Louisiana’s 229 National Merit Semifinalists who

come from 57 schools. Jesuit also had 14 Blue Jays

who were Commended Students in the 2010 National

Merit Program. The outstanding performances by these

Blue Jays are a reflection of the excellent academic

traditions that make Jesuit High School one of the top

college prep high school in the united States.

The faculty and administration of Jesuit High School

extend their congratulations to each student on his

significant achievement.
