Travelling in Spain September 2007 – March 2009

In 2007 I decided to move to Spain whilst I was still young enough before settling down. I worked in bars, improving my language skills, and also as a labourer (this has only served to hinder me, as my wife is not a big fan of my half-finished DIY projects!)

I was a customer adviser in a level ‘B’ branch. Day to day at RBS consisted of daily sales meetings to review appointments for the day. I would then have appointments of a varied nature. Key clients were ones with borrowing and saving needs from a mixture of personal, premium, and business customers. During my time in Cheltenham it was my responsibility to fulfil the branches target of personal banking sales. To achieve targets, I had to be pro-active in getting my leads, I also had to coach staff and hold sales meetings to enable other members of staff to help achieve these sales figures. Every problem, complaint, enquiry was an opportunity to cross sell as many products or services that were needed. I finished my time at RBS selling loans, savings, investment leads, and was half way through completing my CEMAP qualifications to be signed off as a mortgage advisor.
