  • SIR GEORGE ALAN THOMASBorn at Therapia, Turkey.DOB: June 14, 1881.Passed away: July 23, 1972.A British chess, badminton and tennis player.Twice British Chess Champion.Even-time All-England Badminton champion.Played in the semi-finals of the men's tennis doubles at Wimbledon in 1911.

  • Never married.Admired for his fine sportsmanship.The most successful player ever in the All England Open Badminton Championships with 21 titles between 1906 and 1928.men's singles (4).men's doubles (9).mixed doubles (8).

    Inducted into the World Badminton Hall of Fame as an Inaugural Member.

  • Thomas CupWorld Men's Team Championships.International badminton competition.Contested by the men's national badminton teams of the member nations of the Badminton World Federation (BWF).First tournament - 1948-1949.Every 3 years.Since 1982 - conducted every 2 years.

    Thomas Cup finally back to Malaysia after 25 years of waiting since 1967.

    The 1992 Thomas Cup heroes comprises of nine players:Razif Hj. Sidek, Jalani Hj. Sidek, Rashid Hj. Sidek, Foo Kok Keong, Cheah Soon Kit, Soo Beng Kiang, Kwan Yoke Meng, Rahman Hj. Sidek and Wong Ewee Mun.
