  • My Man’s Shed

The shed is ever evolving. You’ll find that whatever is

not being used in the house, will find its way out to the ga-

    rage/shed.

Now at first glance all sheds may look the same but

take a closer look. My man’s shed has air conditioning, we

got ducted air con in the house so the in the wall air con

made its way out to the garage.

On a hot summers day the garage is now a cool place

to work. To assist with the cooling the roof is fully insu-

    lated.

So you don’t miss any motor racing a TV is mounted

in the corner with a DVD player.

A spare stereo with speakers has been installed and just

recently a bar fridge has made its way into the shed.

With all the creature comforts you’d be thinking that some

great cars must be being built in this shed and you’d be right

because over 20years there have been some awesome pro-

jects built from the ground up.

Well this shed belongs to Trevor Nelson and his most

recent project is his VC John Harvey replica. Previous pro-

jects included his A9X Torana, his VL Walkinshaw, his HT

Wagon and his HK ute, not to mention all the other great

cars done for other people that came from Trev’s shed.

From a great shed, comes great work all by Trev

    By Sharon Nelson

Welcome members to a new year. Can I thank members for their participation

through out 2012. We finished off last year with a great night out at

Dooralong Community Hall, with great food, plenty of drinks (it was a scorcher). Our presentation/xmas party night went well and I would like to

congratulate the club display day winners.

Now onto 2013 we have already started with a few good events, first was our

run to Mangrove Dam that became our run to Budgewoi due to wet weather. The great facilities at McKenzie reserve provided us with a large undercover

seating area with BBQ facilities that we made good use of. Thanks to Dick

there was heaps of food and thanks also to Margaret, Sharon and Trev who picked up some cakes and bickies for morning tea.

Australia Day saw us heading down to Kincumber Hotel to display our cars.

The hotel provided us with drink vouchers and an Aussie Barbie. Thanks to

the members that came down and displayed there cars the Hotel was very impressed and they have invited us back to their Elvis Festival later this year.

Onto our upcoming events, the most important one our swap meet. This day

provides our club with its funding for our great events that we hold during the year. We need as many hands on deck to make this event run smoothly. If

there is a particular roll you would like to take on at this years swap meet

please let the committee know. For our next club run we are hoping to go to indoor go karts at Tuggerah, this

is a new local business that is setting up as I write this and we maybe one of

there first customers. The people behind this new business are working hard

to be ready for us on the Saturday the 16th Feb. Please be prepared however as we may need to change this run should they not be ready in time.

Don’t forget that we have our track day coming up, its open to any of you.

Boys and girls, and what ever car you feel comfortable bringing along. Why not make a weekend of it and drive down with us on Sunday and stay with us

in the cabins at the trackside. Hey even if you just come down and spectate

and maybe thumb a ride around the track in someone’s car..... There’s plenty to choose from.

Also just to let the members know Phil Webb had a successful Movember

raising more than $700 and Phil would like to thank the members who helped

by way of sponsoring Phil’s Mo, good on you Phil. Please remember that you don’t have to bring your “Holden” to every event,

feel free to bring your everyday car out I know I do.

Looking forward to a great year, lets get out and enjoy ourselves. Chris
