Commander Discussion

The topic of establishing a separate 501 (c) (3) Charitable Foundation supporting the YLC was introduced in the September newsletter. Capt. Ed Parks has worked diligently these past weeks to finalize the IRS Form 1023 applica-tion……a nearly 50 page document. It was thoroughly discussed at the Board meeting on 11/7/2012. TRICARE Pharmacy Home

Delivery

The TRICARE Pharmacy Home Delivery is your least expensive option when not using the military pharmacy and it's safe, convenient and easy to use even when you're traveling on a temporary assignment or if you move. You: can:

Get up to a 90-day supply for most medications

Request refills by mail, phone or online

Use for prescriptions you take on a regular basis

More than 97% of prescriptions filled via home deliv-ery are delivered in less than a week's time, but there are times when your prescription cannot be filled be-cause clarification is needed from you or your physician

In these cases, Express Scripts will contact you or your physician directly, but if those calls go unan-swered within two business days, the prescription can-not be filled. Express Scripts will send you a letter ex-plaining why the prescription was not filled, and in some cases, the prescription is returned.

While this doesn't happen often, there are a few sim-ple things you can do to avoid complications:

Ask your provider to e-prescribe your medications. Electronic prescriptions are less likely to have miss-ing or illegible elements.

When sending your prescription through the mail, write the patient's name, sponsor ID number and patient's birth date clearly on the back of the pre-scription.

If Express Scripts contacts you about your prescrip-tion, call them back within two business days. Cus-tomer service representatives are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Rooneyisms

I've learned.... That sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand.

I've learned.... That life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.

I've learned.... That we should be glad God doesn't give us everything we ask for.

I've learned.... That it's those small daily happenings that make life so spectacular.

Guest Speaker

Mrs. Sue Stewart , accompanied by Mrs. Melissa Burtless, was our guest speaker. Sue is the Chief Ex-ecutive Officer for the Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida. Melissa & Sue with

Commander Graves

The first Girl Scout troop was founded by Juliette Gordon Low on March 12, 1912 in Savannah, Georgia and charted by Congress on March 16, 1950. There are over 3.6 million Girl Scouts and adult volunteers. Through its membership in the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, The Girl Scout of the USA is part of a worldwide family of 10 million girls and adults in 145 countries.

This year is the 100th Anniversary for Girl Scouts. Their national theme for 2013 is “This is What a Girl Can Do!” Girls will gain experience through:

First, Girls-Led. Using new handbooks, girls choose what areas they would like to explore.

Second, girls learn by doing. Girls approach each learning opportunity by actively engaging in areas con-cerning community and the world around them.

Third, girls prefer cooperative learning. Camaraderie is built in working side-by-side with other girls encour-aging them along the leadership journey.

MOWW supports the Girl Scouts in community projects, badge programs, and through the MOWW Certificate of Recognition for girls who receive the Girl Scout Gold Award.

Sue awarded Shirley Parks the Girl Scout 100th Anniversary pins for her efforts in presenting 8 girls the MOWW Certificate of Recognition for their Gold Awards in 2012.
