It was a lovely evening in the spring months.

The lovely gentle breeze enticed the music

lovers of Nandan Van to get in the singing

mood. They all decided to have a Singing

competition.The parrots and the beetles, the ladybirds and the

spiders, the honey bees and the bumble bees

all got together to put in their names for thecompetition.

Nandan van was all set for the big competition.

The parrots and the scarlets and even Goldy,the fish was busy practicing for the big event.

Ziggy, the zebra was slightly hesitant about his

voice but when he saw Jumbo put in his name,he too joined the race for the best singer in the

jungle.

But one person who was in the real mood wasWendy, the wind. She blew softly and then

faster, softly again and then very rapidly to

create a harmony which was sheer music to the

ears and also created the wonderful mood for a

great musical event.

In all the fun and engrossed gestures, Wendy

blew strongly inside to land a little girls

favourite toy on the floor. Sorry she was, butstop did she? No not at all!

She flitted around and blew from tree to tree and

made every flower dance with her. She played

with the little paper boats and the clouds too

joined in with her song. Nandan Van was

echoing with melody.

All the butterflies came out to colour the grandgala musical evening. Nandan Van for the first

time was to witness such a show. Butterflies

dancing with alligators, caterpillars on the

leaves, little baby birds who did not know

what was happening too joined in as the

chorus.

Sher Khan came to give away the prize. There

was no competition at all. Wendy had won.

She had made everyone understand the true

meaning of music.

She said, Music is for soul. What is melody to

the ears must also be soothing for the soul.
