I was particul~rly grateful f?r the opportunity to resume our intellectually enriching dialogue on current issues, especially those concerning African political trends and the social, economic and political aspirations of your people and the development prospects of your country.

We are very much avare of the seriousness of certain financial and economic problems that Senegal is now experiencing but the cl·ear and careful analysis Senegal is undertaking of these problems and the determination manifested by you and your colleagues to solve them cause us to hold the utmost confidence in the future of your country and the success of your policies. Rest assured that we will continue to support your development efforts through the very close and constructive working relations which have existed for a long time between Senegal and the World Bank and which could only become stronger.
