Message from the Principals, With the beginning of March, brings the hopes of spring. It also marks the sixth week of the third quarter, which means 12 weeks left. Incredi- ble how quickly the school year has progressed. We are planning our 5 th grade tours in May and look forward to visiting with our up and coming students. The 8 th grade students will be visited by CHS and LCHS on March 4 th , and the high schools will return on the 11 th for scheduling. A parent night will be held at CHS on March 5 th , starting at 6:00 pm for information regarding their programs. LCHS School’s parent night will be March 4 th at 6 pm. Our teachers at Woodland Middle School are working hard to imple- ment the Idaho Core into their instruction and curriculum. The new Smarter Balanced Assessment (which takes the place of the ISAT) will begin on April 6th and go through the second week in May. Your stu- dent(s) will have specific testing days and their teachers will inform you of those dates in the near future. Research has shown that students need plenty of rest the night before and a nutritious breakfast in order to do their very best. This testing cycle will give them the information need- ed to set standards and expectations for growth for next year. Skyward is the fastest way to check on your student’s progress. If you don’t have access to Skyward, feel free to contact the office for direc- tion or request your child to print grade reports at school and bring them home. It is much harder to get caught once a child starts falling behind. Please remember to vote on March 10 th for Coeur d'Alene Public Schools Levy. Message from the Principals,

With the beginning of March, brings the hopes of spring. It also marks

the sixth week of the third quarter, which means 12 weeks left. Incredi-

ble how quickly the school year has progressed.

We are planning our 5th grade tours in May and look forward to visiting

with our up and coming students. The 8th grade students will be visited

by CHS and LCHS on March 4th, and the high schools will return on the

11th for scheduling. A parent night will be held at CHS on March 5th,

starting at 6:00 pm for information regarding their programs. LCHS

School’s parent night will be March 4th at 6 pm.

Our teachers at Woodland Middle School are working hard to imple-

ment the Idaho Core into their instruction and curriculum. The new

Smarter Balanced Assessment (which takes the place of the ISAT) will

begin on April 6th and go through the second week in May. Your stu-

dent(s) will have specific testing days and their teachers will inform you

of those dates in the near future. Research has shown that students

need plenty of rest the night before and a nutritious breakfast in order to

do their very best. This testing cycle will give them the information need-

ed to set standards and expectations for growth for next year.

Skyward is the fastest way to check on your student’s progress. If you

don’t have access to Skyward, feel free to contact the office for direc-

tion or request your child to print grade reports at school and bring them

home. It is much harder to get caught once a child starts falling behind.

Please remember to vote on March 10th for Coeur d'Alene Public

Schools Levy.

It is our pleasure and desire to continue working with you and for you!

March is National Nutrition Month

March is a month to celebrate good health through healthy eating. The Academy of Nutri-

tion and Dietetics runs an annual campaign called National Nutrition Month (NNM) which

started as a weeklong event back in 1973 and was expanded to a month of educational

focus on nutrition in 1980. This year’s theme, “Bite into a Healthy Lifestyle”, emphasizes

that improving overall health is not just about one meal or month of dieting but about

choosing sustainable and enjoyable eating practices balanced with daily physical activi-

ty. You’ll find a link to the NNM website which provides a variety of great tips and tools for

living a healthy lifestyle through the Nutrition Services department page at

www.cdaschools.org. Look for National Nutrition Month celebrations occurring around

District 271!
