Affordable Warmth Strategies

• EEACs are working in partnership with WAG, NEA and SWALEC to develop Affordable (Fuel Poverty) Strategies

• At the same time we are also developing projects and funding to help implement those strategies.

Page 14: The Welsh EEACs

Fuel Poverty

It’s a lot more than giving away a lot of low energy light bulbs

A direct mail shot to recipients of Housing an CTB in Newport resulted in 500 homes having measures installed

Local Energy Support Teams

To develop capacity, understanding and corporate commitment within local authorities and other housing providers with respect to energy efficiency and sustainable energy.

Support is provided through:

– Developing sustainable energy strategies– Providing extra staff and resources – Developing Energy Efficiency Schemes – Accessing grants– Marketing and Awareness Raising with Elected Members– Scheme management and delivery

We have them because we successfully bid for the funding – only half of EEACs have an LEST.

Why work with EEACs?

There are many good reasons for working with us:• We are all charities so no shareholders or directors

taking the profits• Any income we generate is all spent in Wales• We are based in Wales, managed in Wales and

employ people in Wales• We are here today and tomorrow – not take the profit

and disappear.• We take to good and the bad – not just pick the

cherries and move on• Not tied to any EEC funder – take the best offer for

the householder and access all available funds

Page 22: The Welsh EEACs

The Best Reasons

• For every £1 we receive in funding from Local Authorities we find another £10 ourselves.

• Just about everything we do improves your HECA Return or now Policy Agreement performance, typically we provide half of the claimed improvement.

• Nobody offers better value for money, flexibility or long term commitment.
