From the Editor Candice

Happy Tues-day.

The Grape-vine is back to normal today. In case some people are wondering what the Mi-crosoft Word version was about it was an illustration of what the Grapevine would like if I left the submis-sions in Micro-soft Word.

Starting with the next Grape-vine I will no longer accept any lengthy ad that is not in PDF or JPEG format.

Unfortu-nately it takes me an average of an extra

three hours a week working on the Grpaevine con-verting peo-ple’s word documents to fit into the Grapevine. So I will be imple-menting this new policy.

This week is full of several talented guest speakers and a patent confer-ence on Friday. Hopefully you can find time to attend at least one event.

To all those 2L’s giving oral arguments this week. Good luck!

Take Care, Candice B. Macario

Patent Policy in the Supreme Court and Congress

October 27, 2006 Bannan 127 8:15am-5:30pm

Co-Sponsored by The Berkeley Center for Law and Technology, Boalt Hall School of Law, UC Berkeley and The High Tech Law Institute Santa Clara University School of Law The past term was an important one for patent law in the United States, with the U.S. Supreme Court hearing a number of cases involving patent law and proposals for patent law reform be-ing seriously debated in Congress. The upcoming term promises to be even more eventful, with several more pat-ent cases on the Supreme Court’s docket, and continued debate on patent reform in the Congress that will be elected in November. This conference will bring together academic scholars from across the nation to discuss the reaction to this term's Supreme Court decisions, the cases to be heard in the upcoming term, recent decisions in the Federal Circuit, the impact of patent law on innovation, and potential future directions for patent reform legislation in Congress.

Admission to the conference is free but an RSVP is required. For full conference details and registration, go to www.scu.edu/patentconference
