METHODOLOGY:
Connecting the DotsA Collaborative
Model for Change: Its an idea tocreate an umbrella-like collection of
new and existing organizations and
programs, sponsors, and individuals
whose work can change the world.
THE TRUTH PROJECT is part of that
collective changing the worldusingarts and social issues immersion to
promote nonviolence for kids and
teens in our neighborhoods and
communities.
MISSION:
THE TRUTH PROJECT is an arts and social issues immersion
program empowering students to promote nonviolence through
creativity, connection, collaboration, and communication.
The focus is on:
ARTSSOCIAL ISSUES
NONVIOLENCE
It is never too late Never give up Our
kids are worth it, this is our future, were
talking about now. It starts in the present,
it starts now. This is what we are seeingin them: WE BELIEVE. We believe in
ourselves. Even if you dont believe in us,
we believe in each other. And we are
seeking the truth. The Truth Project is
about empowering students through arts
and social issues to promote nonviolence
and as Gandhi said, to be the change they
wish to see in the world.

THE TRUTH PROJECT IS...
Students Take a Stand!
Community-driven movementsare happening around the
world...
Creative initiatives like the Chicagoand Baltimore-based programs ThInterrupters and Safe Streetsand The Baltimore AlgebraProject are serving as models fortaking back our streets, ourcommunities, our schools, our
youth...
Celebrating Literacy! an intergenerational reading program that serves as model for educating youth and seniors through afterschool immersionexperiences. Studying the writings, speeches, and work of Dr. Martin LutherKing, Jr. and Mahatma Gandhi andother civil rights leaders, students andeniors come together in a reading
program focused on continuing theivil rights movement and what it
means to live the dream today.
Students Take a Stand! is the nextphase during which students takewhat they learned from CelebratingLiteracy! and put it into actionStudents evaluate the social issues their generation faces and plan their ownmovement for change starting in their schools. This is their movement.
This Isnt a Sit-in. This is a Stand Up.
Students Prepare to Make History Again!

THE TRUTH PROJECT IS...
This school was the one with students from the highest
crime zip codes, no kitchen, no library, no safety resourceofficer! With the lowest funding priority for any school inthe district
100 percent of the kids in this school are there because theywere sent there Zero tolerance Suspension Drugs Weap-ons Assault Bullying Attempted Homicide Gang ViolenceYou name it. If they didnt go to jail, they went there.
This school is a microcosm for what is going wrong with ourcommunities, and the question is how do we right the wrongs, starting with this school to be the change and turn things aroundfor our kids
This is an experiment in going deep, investing in a school that isforgotten, and making a real and lasting difference If we canchange it there, theres no school that cant be turned around.
WE BELIEVE is a graphic arts project that involves students increating inspirational murals, banners, signs, trading cards,t-shirts, and more (***see example above)sparking a creativeconversation about what they can do to make a changeandstarting a movement in their lives, and rippling out through
positive peer pressure.
