The T r in i ty T id ing s To share the love of God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, by loving one another,
loving our community, and putting our faith into action.
Lenten Spirituality
We certainly know that Lent can be a spiritual time in our lives with Christ, but when we hear the word “spirituality” we can be tempted to run away very quickly. What is spirituality and why do we need it? We can understand the Spirit and understand how the Spirit works in us, but what, exactly, is spirituality? Spirituality is that part of human life where we develop a continuing relationship with God and proceed to live out this relationship in our lives. In order for this to happen, however, we must be comfortable enough in our relationship with God to allow this spirit to work in our lives. I do not believe it is something we can consciously decide, as if to say we have a switch where we can turn this spirit of God within us on or off. Rather, it is something that through life disciplines, such as prayer and devotion, can automatically become part of who we are. Just as we must nourish our physical selves with food in order to grow, we must also nourish our spiritual selves in order to grow our relationship with God and begin the process of this spirit working within us. Our spiritual “food,” then, becomes our relationship with God. One problem of contemporary society, however, is that we fail to recognize that this hunger we sense is indeed a hunger for God. It is in recognizing that a right relationship with God is what is missing in the development of our spirit, and that we are in fact being sought out by this same God, that we begin to feed this spirit, knowing that it will automatically begin to work in our lives. I invite you to fully participate in our Lenten programs this season, to enrich your study and reflection through worship and prayer, and to live into your relationship with God, yourself, and your neighbor as we continue to move forward to the glory of Easter. – Fr. Andy+
Adult Christian Education to focus on future of the St. Francis Project
Beginning on the first Sunday in Lent, March 10, and continuing through the season, our Adult Christian education time will be spent discussing what we would like to see happen with the St. Francis Project once our ten-year commitment is final at the end of this year. We began these conversations in our Stewardship gatherings last fall and would now like to re-engage the Parish in deciding what we would like that future to be. I believe it is important to hear from all of you before we make a decision about how to continue with outreach ministries beyond this year. Do we keep the name St. Francis? Do we still give away grants, but on a smaller scale? These are questions we will address and need all of you there to help answer them. Please come join me and your parish family on Sunday mornings at 9:30 in the Parish Hall to continue this important conversation. – Fr. Andy+

Lenten Lunches
We will once again have our Lenten lunches this year on Wednesdays, beginning March 13, from 12-1pm in the Parish Hall. Our theme this year is Psalm 46: God’s Hope, Strength, and Help in times of trouble. I will be the first speaker and lead a reflection on Psalm 46. Our other speakers will be Scott Morris (3/20), Sammy Gilbreath (3/27), The Hon. Carole Medley (4/3), and The Rev. Danny Whitehead (4/10). We have the first three groups signed up and ready to cook lunch, but still need volunteers to take April 3 and 10. If you are interested, please call Lauren in the office to sign up. We look forward to seeing you on Wednesdays this Lent. Fr. Andy+
