Hello Brethren,
I hope everyone is enjoying this nice fall weather. As I said in September, activity at the Lodge is increasing. First, we had a very active and
enjoyable Stated Meeting. We had an official visit from the Grand Lodge of Arizona, Worshipful Brother, Boyd Robertson, Grand Senior
Deacon . He delivered greetings from the Grand Master and encouraged us to help each other and other lodges as needed. Also in attend-
ance was Brother BJ Walzak who is a member of Fort Williams Lodge number 43 which is located Fort Williams, Scotland. He was very im-
pressing as he was dressed in the traditional Scottish uniform of jacket and Kilt. He presented the Lodge with a very fine plaque and a book
about the history of Fort Williams Lodge, which was chartered in 1743 (see the photograph in Lodge news).
Most Worshipful Brother, William Anderson Gerrard Junior, past Grand Master of Free and Accepted Masons of Arizona was also in
attendance. Worshipful brother, Bill, brought to our attention that our Boy Scout troop, which we sponsor, was in need. They have to pay
their re charter fee of about $600 which they do not have. A motion was made and seconded and we elected to donate $300.00 from the
Lodge. We also passed the hat during the meeting and collected an additional $282.00. This should help them reach their goal.
As most of you know, and many of you attended our fall Meet and Greet, the food and fellowship was wonderful, it was good to see every-
body. It was estimated that there was over 100 in attendance. We also had the pleasure to introduce our newest group to the Lodge, Job’s
Daughters. This is a wonderful and talented group of young ladies. It will be exciting to work with them. If you have never attended a Job’s
Daughters meeting, you need to. These young ladies are very dedicated to the ritual, and do a very fine job in delivering it. If you would
like to attend one of their meetings, check the calendar in the Trestleboard, any Master Mason in good standing can attend. A request was
made of those in attendance, to donate to our youth group. This request was met with great enthusiasm.
We collected $165.00 , THANK YOU !!
We also had a friend to friend program which was well attended, and we handed out a few petitions. Hopefully, we will have Degree work
to do this winter.
I do a lot of reading of different Masonic books, some new, some old. I found this passage in an old text. It was written by Benjamin Frank-
lin; unfortunately, it doesn’t give the date. It goes like this.
“Freemasonry has tenets peculiar to itself. They serve as testimonials of character and qualifications, which are only conferred after due
course of instruction and examination. These are of no small value; they speak a universal language, and act as a passport to the attention
and support of the initiated in all parts of the world. They cannot be lost as long as memory retains its power. Let the processor of them be
expatriated, shipwrecked or imprisoned, let him be stripped of everything he has got in the world, still those credentials remain, and are
available for use as circumstances require. The good effects they have produced are established by the most incontestable facts of history.
They have stayed the uplifted hand of the destroyer; they have softened the asperities of the tyrant; they have mitigated the horrors of
captivity; they have subdued the rancor malevolence; and broken down the barriers of political animosity and sectarian alienation. On the
field of battle, in the solitudes of the uncultivated forest, or in the busy haunts of the crowded city, they have made men of the most hos-
tile feelings, the most distant regions, and diversified conditions, rushed to the aid of each other and feel a special joy and satisfaction that
they have been able to afford relief to a brother Master Mason”.
Brethren, as we move through rest of this year, I want to continue to encourage us all to help each other, because it is the right thing to
do, not because we might get something for it in return.
Fraternally and sincerely,
Steve Wieters, Worshipful Master
From The East
,
Brethren.
I try to make my article about the good we do for Freemasonry., but you make this a little tough sometimes. As
Master Masons, we take upon ourselves a lot of responsibility, one of these is to take care of our widows. We, as a
Lodge, have not done this in many years. This is not due to our neglect, but due to not knowing who our widows
are. Our Secretary, WB Richard Flinton is working very hard to put a list together. If you, by “you” I mean any per-
son that receives this Trestleboard knows of a widow of this Lodge that has not received this Trestleboard or has
not been contacted by the Lodge, please let me know. As far as I am concerned, taking care of our widows is one of
the most important things a Master Mason can do. I hope to start a widow’s night at the Lodge or possibly taking
them out to dinner and a movie or play. Please assist me in this endeavor.
Sincerely and Fraternally,
Craig Montgomery

One Sunday evening a young salesman was driving through the country for a meeting with a prospective client the following morn-
ing when his car broke down. Being Sunday evening, each call he made met with a recorded message informing him that business
hours were Monday thru Friday. Just at that moment he saw a farmer headed towards him on his tractor. After a brief discussion,
the farmer told him that he would pull his vehicle to his home, put him up for the evening, and loan him his truck the following
morning to make his appointment. Beside himself with gratitude the young salesman marveled at the generosity of the farmer. As
they shared an evening meal, the young man saw several pictures of the old farmer with groups of men wearing masonic aprons.
Glancing down at his own masonic ring that he recently received for being raised, the young man smiled and went to bed happy to
know that his brother had recognized his ring and taken care of him. The following day upon returning from his appointment, the
young man found that the farmer had repaired his car. The young man thanked him profusely and told the farmer how grateful he
was and how glad he was that he had joined the fraternity. The farmer gave him a puzzled look and the young man said, “I saw the
pictures of you with Masonic Brethren and I know you must have seen my Masonic ring. I understand that’s why you helped me.”
The old farmer just shook his head and said, “My Brother, I didn’t help you because you’re a Mason …I helped you because I am a
Mason.
I hope to see you all in lodge.

Brother Boyd Robertson. We also had the pleasure to greet Most Worshipful Brother William A. Garrard Jr. Past Grand Master

located in, Fort Williams, Scotland. As you can see in photo, he presented the Worshipful Master with a few mementos from
his Home Lodge. Also you can see that he was in full Scottish regalia.
At our regular meeting we had the pleasure to award companion Richard Edmands his 50 year service award from the Grand Council of
Cryptic Masons in Arizona. This is quite an accomplishment and Richard is a wonderful companion who is always ready to help. Due to
Family health reasons Richard has been unable to attend meetings on a regular basis, so at our Council meeting, we also presented
companion Richard Edmands his 50 year service award from the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons in Arizona. As I am the Worshipful

Welcome Companions,
First, I want to thank Most Illustrious Grand Master of the Grand Council of Cryptic Masons in Arizona,
William Anderson Garrard Jr., for attending our September meeting. It is always a pleasure to have this outstanding Mason in attendance.
As the temperatures go down the activity in masonry increases, the Council is no different. We have some new companions who are
finishing their Royal arch degrees and hopefully will be interested in becoming Select Masters. We will also start to sell tickets for our
raffle. We are going to be raffling off a television. Companion Steven D. Wieters is in the process of securing the biggest, high definition
LED television that he can acquire for $400. Once we have the TV in hand we will get tickets printed and start to sell. We are also working
on the table Council dinner which is coming up in March 2017. We want this event to be a large and successful.
At our regular meeting we had the pleasure to award companion, Richard Edmands, his 50 year award from the Grand Council of Cryptic
Masons in Arizona. This is quite an accomplishment and Richard is a wonderful companion who is always ready to help. Due to health rea-
sons, Richard has been unable to attend meetings on a regular basis, so at our Council meeting, we also presented companion, Richard Ed-
