I. The Principles

A. The Right Model• "Truth is more caught than taught"

• What you allow in moderation, your children will do in excess

Deuteronomy 6:6-7

And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of

them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie

down, and when you rise. ESV

2. Love each other • Command of husband to love wife

II. The Process

The Command1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), 3 “that it may go well with you and that you may live long

in the land.” 4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the

discipline and instruction of the Lord. Ephesians 6:1-4 ESV

The Commitment• To Administer discipline

• Standards based on God's Word

• Standards must deal with attitudes that foster wrong action

• Standards must support the authorities outside the home

the good of the parents but for the good of the child.
