Collect V. Peace be with you. R. And with thy spirit.

Let us pray. O God, who, through the mystery of the Word made flesh, didst in thy mercy sanctify the house of the Blessed Virgin Mary: do thou grant that we may keep aloof from the tabernacle of sinners, and become worthy indwellers of thy house; through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

Introit Rorate, caeli Isaiah 45:8; Psalm 19 Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness:

let the earth open, and bring forth a Saviour. (Ps.) The heavens declare the glory of God: and the firmament showeth his handy-work.

(Bow) Glory be to the Father… (Rise) As it was in the beginning… Drop down, ye heavens…

V. In the Name of the + Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. R. Amen.

Collect for Purity, Summary of the Law Missal, page 1 Kyrie (Willan) Hymn 710 Gloria (Willan) Hymn 713

The Lesson: Isaiah 7:10-14; 8:10 In those days, the Lord spoke to Ahaz, "Ask a sign of the Lord your God; let it be deep as Sheol or high as heaven." But Ahaz said, 'I will not ask, and I will not put the Lord to the test." And he said, “Hear then, O house of David! Is it too little for you to weary men, that you weary my God also? Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, a Virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call his Name Immanuel [God is with us]." Take counsel together, but it will come to nought; speak a word, but it will not stand, for God is with us. V. The Word of the Lord. R. Thanks be to God.

The Epistle: Galatians 4:4-7 When the time had fully come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!" So through God you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son then an heir. V. The Word of the Lord. R. Thanks be to God.

The Holy Gospel: St. Matthew 1:1-16, 18-23 V. The Lord be with you. R. And with thy spirit.

V. A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Saint Matthew. R. Glory be to thee, O Lord.

The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Abraham was the father of Isaac, and Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers, and Judah the fa-ther of Perez and Zerah by Tamar, and Perez the father of Hezron, and Hezron the father of Ram, and Ram the father of Amminadab, and Amminadab the father of Nahshon, and Nahshon the father of Salmon, and Salmon the father of Boaz by Rahab, and Boaz the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed the father of Jesse, and Jesse the father of David the king. And David was the father of Solomon by the wife of Uriah, and Solomon the father of Rehoboam, and Rehoboam the father of Abijah, and Abijah the father of Asa, and Asa the father of Jehoshaphat, and Jehoshaphat the father of Joram, and Joram the father of Uzziah, and Uzziah the father of Jotham, and Jotham the father of Ahaz, and Ahaz the father of Hezekiah, and Hezekiah the father of Manasseh, and Manasseh the father of Amos, and Amos the father of Josiah, and Josiah the father of Jechoniah and his brothers, at the time of the deportation to Babylon. And after the deportation to Babylon: Jechoniah was the father of Shealtiel, and Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel, and Zerubba-bel the father of Abiud, and Abiud the father of Eliakim, and Eliakim the father of Azor, and Azor the father of Zadok, and Zadok the father of Achim, and Achim the father of Eliud, and Eliud the father of Eleazar, and Eleazar the father of Matthan, and Matthan the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born, who is called Christ. Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came to-gether she was found to be with child of the Holy Spirit; and her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to send her away quietly. But as he considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit; she will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins." All this took place to fulfil what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: "Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and his name shall be called Emmanuel" (which means, God with us). V. The Gospel of the Lord. R. Praise be to thee, O Christ.

The Homily

Gospel Acclamation Et ingressus Angelus Luke 1:28 Alleluia. Alleluia.

Take this vessel with bread for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. Make your life worthy of your service at the Table of the Lord and of his Church.

The Bishop concludes the rite of institution by saying:

MAY almighty God, the Creator of heaven and earth, who hath vouchsafed to lead you into this fellowship and ministry of the Altar, bless and strengthen you, that you may tread under foot the head of the serpent, your enemy, and at length victo-riously attain the palm and crown of your everlasting inheritance, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Station Prayers

Ancient Walsingham Prayer

O alone of all women, Mother and Virgin, Mother most happy, Virgin most pure, now we sinful as we are, come to see thee who are all pure, we salute thee, we honour thee as how we may with our humble offerings; may thy Son grant us, that imitating thy most holy manners, we also, by the grace of the Holy Ghost may deserve spiritually to conceive the Lord Jesus in our inmost soul, and once conceived never to lose him. Amen.

Prayer to Our Lady of Walsingham

O blessed Virgin Mary, Our Lady of Walsingham, Mother of God and our most gentle Queen and Mother, look down in mercy upon us, our parish, our country, our homes, and our families, and upon all who greatly hope and trust in your prayers. By you it was that Jesus, our Savior and hope, was given to the world; and he has given you to us that we may hope still more. Plead for us your children, whom you did receive and accept at the foot of the Cross, O sorrowful Mother. Intercede for our separated brethren, that with us in the one true fold they may be united to the Chief Shepherd, the Vicar of your Son. Pray for us all, dear Mother, that by faith fruitful in good works we all may be made worthy to see and praise God, together with you in our heavenly home. Amen.

Procession to the Groundbreaking of the Education and Music Building of The Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham

During the procession, the Choir chants the following:

Psalm 84. Quam dilecta! Antiphon Except the Lord build the house; they labor in vain that build it.

O HOW amiable are thy dwellings, thou Lord of hosts! My soul hath a desire and longing to enter into the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh rejoice in the living God. Yea, the sparrow hath found her an house, and the swallow a nest where she may lay her young; even thy altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God. Blessed are they that dwell in thy house; they will be always praising thee. Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are thy ways. Who going through the vale of misery use it for a well; and the pools are filled with water. They will go from strength to strength; and unto the God of gods appeareth every one of them in Sion. O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer; hearken, O God of Jacob. Behold, O God our defender; and look upon the face of thine Anointed. For one day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a door-keeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of ungodliness. For the Lord God is a light and defence; the Lord will give grace and worship, and no good thing shall he withhold from them that live a godly life. O Lord God of hosts; blessed is the man that putteth his trust in thee. Glory be…...

Antiphon Except the Lord build the house; they labor in vain that build it.

Bishop May the grace and peace of God our Father, the source of all blessings, be with you all. People And with thy spirit.

Bishop Dearly beloved in the Lord, we are gathered together here to break ground for the Education and Music Building of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham. First, let us praise God’s holy Name for the mercy and goodness with which he has so far prospered this work; and let us further devoutly pray that he will, of his good Providence, bless all who help forward its completion; that he will protect those who may be engaged in the building; and that he will send his blessing upon this undertaking.

V. O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is gracious. R. For his mercy endureth forever. V. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. R. As it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be forever.

Bishop Forasmuch as devout and faithful people have taken in hand to build on this ground, now marked with the sym-bol of Christ, an Education and Music Building to be dedicated to the glory of God and entrusted to his Blessed Mother, Our Lady of Walsingham, here at this place where the Gospel shall be truly preached, where the bonds of unity shall be knit, and where all the faithful of the parish shall be served.

Then taking the spade, and removing the first shovelful of earth, the Bishop shall continue,

Therefore, in the faith of Jesus Christ, I break ground for the Education and Music Building; in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.

Bishop The Lord be with you; People And with thy spirit. Bishop Let us pray.

O LORD God of Israel, who didst move thy servant David to find out a place for thy temple, and dost have thy habitation among the sons of men: Vouchsafe, we beseech thee, to hallow + this ground, upon which we propose to build here the Education and Music Building, that the work now begun may be brought to completion, to the honor and glory of thy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
