Collect V. The Lord be with you. R. And with thy spirit.

Let us pray. O God, the protector of all that trust in thee, without whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy: increase and multiply upon us thy mercy; that, thou being our ruler and guide, we may so pass through things temporal, that we finally lose not the things eternal; grant this, O heavenly Father, for the sake of Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

Introit Dominus illuminatio mea Psalm 27:1, 2, 3 The Lord is my light, and my salvation, whom then shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?

When mine enemies pressed sore against me, they stumbled and fell. (Ps.) Though an host of men were laid against me: yet shall not my heart be afraid.

(Bow) Glory be to the Father… (Rise) As it was in the beginning…The Lord is my light…

The Lesson: Zechariah 9:9-10 Thus says the Lord, Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king comes to you; triumphant and victorious is he, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt the foal of a donkey. I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the war horse from Jerusalem; and the battle bow shall be cut off, and he shall com-mand peace to the nations; his dominion shall be from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth. V. The Word of the Lord. R. Thanks be to God.

The Epistle: Romans 8:9, 11-13 Brethren, you are not in the flesh, you are in the Spirit, if the Spirit of God really dwells in you. Any one who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through his Spirit who dwells in you. So then, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh – for if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body you will live. V. The Word of the Lord. R. Thanks be to God.

The Holy Gospel: St. Matthew 11:25-30 V. The Lord be with you. R. And with thy spirit.

V. A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Saint Matthew. R. Glory be to thee, O Lord.

At that time Jesus declared, "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and any one to whom the Son choos-es to reveal him. “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." V. The Gospel of the Lord. R. Praise be to thee, O Christ.

The Psalm: Psalm 145 [Exaltabo te, Deus] Chant Tone: Sir Joseph Barnby (1836-1896)

I will magnify thee, O | God my | King:

and I will praise thy | Name for | ever · and | ever. Every day will I give thanks | un - to | thee; and praise thy | Name for | ever · and | ever.

The Lord is | gracious · and | merciful: long-suffering, | and of | great | goodness. The Lord is | loving · unto | every man: and his mercy is | ov-er | all his | works.

All thy works | praise thee, · O | Lord: and thy | saints give | thanks · unto | thee. They show the | glory · of thy | kingdom, and | talk | of thy | power.

Thy kingdom is an ever- | last-ing | kingdom: and thy dominion en- | dureth · through- | out all | ages. The Lord upholdeth | all · such as | fall: and lifteth | up all | those that · are | down.

Gospel Acclamation Deus, qui sedes Psalm 9:4b, 9 Alleluia. Alleluia.

Communion Antiphon Dominus firmamentum meum Psalm 18:1b, 2 The Lord is my strong rock, and my defence:

my Saviour, my God, and my might.

Communion Anthem: “O Taste and See” John Goss (1800-1880) O taste, and see, how gracious the Lord is: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

O fear the Lord, ye that are his saints: for they that fear him lack nothing. The lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they who seek the Lord

shall want no manner of thing that is good. ~ Psalm 34:8-10

Offertory Antiphon Illumina oculos meos Psalm 13:3b, 4 Lighten mine eyes, that I sleep not in death:

lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him.

Offertory Anthem: “King of Glory, King of Peace” David Charles Walker (b. 1938) arr. Robert Brewer

King of Glory, King of Peace, I will love thee; And, that love may never cease, I will move thee.

Thou hast granted my request, thou hast heard me; Thou didst note my working breast, thou hast spared me.

Wherefore with my utmost art I will sing thee, And the cream of all my heart I will bring thee.

Though my sins against me cried, thou didst clear me; And alone, when they replied, thou didst hear me.

Seven whole days, not one in seven, I will praise thee; In my heart, though not in heaven, I can raise thee.

Small it is, in this poor sort to enroll thee: Ev’n eternity’s too short to extol thee.

~ George Herbert (1593-1633)

An Act of Spiritual Communion for those who cannot now receive Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament

My Jesus, I believe that thou art truly present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love thee above all things, and I desire to receive thee into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive thee sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace thee as if thou wert already there and unite myself wholly to thee. Never permit me to be separated from thee. Amen.
