“For the last 20+ years, data center demand at Bank of America has grown continually along with increasing requirements for greater resilience. Through this, the Bank

has invested in growing its data center estate and upgrading facilities…with the advent of ‘the cloud’ and the Bank’s drive toward an internal private cloud…the data

center demand profile has changed and we are adapting to a new paradigm.’ (Nic Barnes, Global Head of Data Center Strategy, Bank of America in Datacenter Dynamics). Sources: EI Agency, Market Bulletin on Data Centre transformation, 04/2016; Fujitsu Digital Tightrope, 02/2016

Comparison between HANA & Oracle based on total response time, average response

time, database time, and average database time:

HANA vs Oracle (Response Time)

TDI HANA Concept for Nakilat

HANA TDI Advantages

The primary advantage of HANA TDI is that standard storage concepts are now available to

HANA as well, i.e.:

Snapshot backup of HANA DB is possible

Backup & Restore times are drastically reduced due to snapshots

Due to TDI, we are working in one unified storage instead of disk silos. Hence, unused

capacities of one instance can easily be reused for other instances if needed.

Storage volume migrations can be used on HANA volumes too (unlike standard appliance).

With the added advantage of using cDOT of NetApp’s TDI configuration, Nakilat can very

easily move workloads around not only within each storage controller but on future

expansion of the cDOT cluster
