As Christians, perhaps the most important thing we can reflect upon is our faith and our relationship with Christ. If that part of who we are is not properly aligned, not much of anything else will go right either. With that in mind, I want to tell you about a new series I will begin on Sunday, January 18th. I love the old hymn "Blessed Assurance" in our hymnal. It has provided inspiration for many people across the years, especially in times of difficulty. The song is based on Hebrews 10:22 where we find these words: "Let's draw near with a genuine heart with the certainty that our faith gives us." The message of the song is of the assurance we can have in Christ. Using the hymn as a backdrop, I will be preaching on the topic "ARE YOU SURE?" Here's is what we will ask over three weeks: "Are You Sure You are Saved?" "Are You Sure There is a Heaven and That You Are Headed There?" "Are You Sure You've Given Your Life to Christ?" Even better than singing "Blessed Assurance" is knowing that assurance in your heart and mind. I run across lots of people today, even in churches, who aren't sure of the answers to those questions. Unfortunately, some people give very little thought to how they would answer them. If you have any doubt about how you would answer these questions, I hope you spend time with us in worship these three weeks. Even if you already have the assurance of your faith, we can all benefit from a fresh look as well. -Stuart

The New Year is a great time for us to reflect on our lives and our relationships. Using the hymn as a backdrop, I will be preaching on the topic "ARE YOU SURE?" Here's is what we will ask over three weeks:

• "Are You Sure You are Saved?" • "Are You Sure There is a Heaven and That You Are Headed There?" • "Are You Sure You've Given Your Life to Christ?"

Even better than singing "Blessed Assurance" is knowing that assurance in your heart and mind. I run across lots of people today, even in churches, who aren't sure of the answers to those questions. Unfortunately, some people give very little thought to how they would answer them. If you have any doubt about how you would answer these questions, I hope you spend time with us in worship these three weeks. 2015 BIBLE STUDIES

It’s not too late to join a new Bible study! Visit the website and click the Bible study banner for

a list of studies. You can also sign up online!

NEW STUDY ADDED: GRACE FOR THE GOOD GIRL: LETTING GO OF

THE TRY-HARD LIFE (8-week study for women)

Tuesdays | 7-8:30 p.m. | Room 201 | Begins 1/27

Many of us believe that we are saved by grace—but for too many, that’s the last time grace defines our life. Instead of clinging to

grace, we strive for good and believe that the Christian life means hard work and a sweet disposition. As good girls, we focus on the

things we can handle, our disciplined lives, and our unshakable good moods. When we fail to measure up to our own impossible standards

we hide behind our “good girl” masks, determined to keep our weakness a secret. In this study we will discover how to move from

living the “try-hard” life to realizing we are free to receive from Jesus instead of achieving for

him.

Leader: Melinda Jackson | Participants must pre-register and order their own book

(available on Amazon) | Childcare available

LENT HABITAT BUILD

Beginning in February 2015, we will combine volunteer and financial efforts with other

during the Lenten season!

Look for more info coming soon or contact Maria Bowers ([email protected])

to find out more now!

CHRISTMAS CARDS NEEDED

Don’t throw away those old Christmas cards! The Missions team can use them for the 2015

Joy Tree. Please put them in the big Christmas bag in the Gathering Room. Only

the fronts are needed, so the backs containing personal messages may be

removed. Call Kathy Wilson with questions (404.790.4831)

CHILI COOK-OFF

February 21st | Start getting those Crock-Pot recipes ready to go! More info coming soon!

QUILTS OF VALOR

Want to help sew quilts for local veterans? Join the Coweta County Quilts of Valor on

Saturday, January 24th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Parish Hall. If you sew, please bring

your machine and supplies with you…HOWEVER, you do NOT have to sew to participate. We always need people to iron,

cut, and make cards. If you would like to learn to sew, we have experienced seamstresses

who are willing to help you. This is a fun and caring group of people. ALL AGES &

GENDERS welcome (yes, men can sew too!).

The veterans who receive our quilts are so touched by the thoughtfulness and

remembrance of their service to our country. Bring something to share for lunch.
