The liturgical color for the season is blue, meaning hope and preparation. Keeping Advent at home with a wreath and calendar also focuses our devotion and prepares us for Christmas. As always, I encourage keeping the Christmas decorations boxed for as long as possible before December 24. During Advent we will read Evening Prayer here daily at 6 pm. Try to attend often. Perhaps you might choose one night per week to attend regularly. Also, please plan to join us for the Wednesday night Advent teaching series beginning December 3. Fellowship is at 6:30 pm, with class from 7 until 8 pm. Again this year, the Angel Tree is an opportunity to provide a Merry Christmas for less fortunate children in our community. Paper angels on the tree in the narthex will each de- scribe the gifts requested. Christmas will be celebrated with three services. Two services will be held on Christmas Eve, 7pm and 10:30. Incense will be used at both services. Christmas Day worship is at 10 am. I look forward to seeing you at one of these celebrations. The music, decorations, and gifts that we share at Christmas are but a small refection of the greater gift that God gives us in his Son, Jesus Christ, as our Savior and Lord. So remember to pray faithfully, worship weekly, and love selflessly in order more spiritually experience this holy time. Now in our fifth year with you at All Saints, Trish and I send our love and best wishes for the season. God bless you, Wayne+

From the Rector’s Desk November/December 2015

Dear All Saints’ family:

All Saints Sunday is particularly special this year. Plan to be at church November 1 for glorious worship. Later in the day, our new Presiding Bishop, Michael Curry, will be installed at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC. You can watch it online. Also, remember the

time change. “Fall back” one hour Saturday night, and enjoy the extra sleep.

I hope that you have reflected about how “God the Giver” has transformed your life and how your commitment to this parish will transform the lives of others. Sunday, November 8 we will return our pledge cards. I am grateful to Don Bartoo and everyone who shared their reflections. Also on November 8, in celebration of Veterans Day, our preacher will be Lt. Col.

Sarah Shirley, USAF Chaplain and Priest. Invite your friends.

Our fall season has gotten off to a great start. Thanks to everyone who made our Fall Festival and Octoberfest such fun. Church school is also in session. Remember, the greatest

gift that you can give your children and grandchildren is friendship with God.

On November 29 we begin a new liturgical year entering the seasons of Advent, Christmas, and Epiphany. In each season we will experience special hymns and prayers emphasizing

different points in the life of Christ.

Advent means “coming toward,” and acknowledges all the ways in which Jesus Christ comes towards us; in his first and second coming, as well as in our daily visitation with him. The liturgical color for the season is blue, meaning hope and preparation. Keeping Advent at home with a wreath and calendar also focuses our devotion and prepares us for Christmas. As always, I encourage keeping the Christmas decorations boxed for as long as possible

before December 24.

During Advent we will read Evening Prayer here daily at 6 pm. Try to attend often. Perhaps you might choose one night per week to attend regularly. Also, please plan to join us for the Wednesday night Advent teaching series beginning December 3. Fellowship is at 6:30 pm,

with class from 7 until 8 pm.

Again this year, the Angel Tree is an opportunity to provide a Merry Christmas for less fortunate children in our community. Paper angels on the tree in the narthex will each de-

scribe the gifts requested.

Christmas will be celebrated with three services. Two services will be held on Christmas Eve, 7pm and 10:30. Incense will be used at both services. Christmas Day worship is at 10 am. I

look forward to seeing you at one of these celebrations.

The music, decorations, and gifts that we share at Christmas are but a small refection of the greater gift that God gives us in his Son, Jesus Christ, as our Savior and Lord. So remember to pray faithfully, worship weekly, and love selflessly in order more spiritually experience this

holy time.

Now in our fifth year with you at All Saints, Trish and I send our love and best wishes for the

season.

God bless you,

Wayne+

AARP of Florida has selected Susan Traylor to receive its most prestigious volunteer award for community service; The 2015 Andrus Award. “Susan works tirelessly to assist local older adults, those that are disadvantaged and disabled, and veterans in the Tarpon Springs area” said AARP Florida State Director Jeff Johnson. Fifty Andrus Award honorees are chosen nationwide each year, one per state, for their ability to enhance the lives of those around them, their dedication to improving their commu-nities, and their ability to inspire others to volunteer. The award was formally presented to Susan Traylor at Oct. 19, 2015, at a ceremony at the Citizens Alliance for Progress in Tarpon Springs. Congratulations, Susan. God bless you for transforming lives and inspiring others to join you in this ministry.
