Tonight The Sri Lankan Project Sana, Mohan & Peter are speaking today on the school building in Sri Lanka. Going by the enthusiasm of Peter it was not only a very interesting tour to beautiful Sri Lanka but the project was beyond expectations. Hear what our money has achieved for the still very desperate situation in Jaffna, in the north of the country for many people.

pp John Mansour Introduced the guest Speaker Ted Plummer
He spoke to us two years ago on Kingsford Smith. He is head of government and community relations , His background is in law and chemistry
On 18th April 1911 the first flight occurred but the air port area was a race course. Eight years later Nigel Love was the founder of Sydney Airport. He was a pilot in the War but was commissioned to find an area suitable for an airport and at that time it was a Bullock paddock. He also opened a manufacturing business making air craft , The first commercial air craft flew to Melbourne. He was also responsible for selling the first four planes to Hudson Fysh who ultimately was the co founder of Qantas,
One hundred years later demand has grown. We can reach most destinations in the world with one stop over. We generally have the largest air craft as they have to fly the furthest. Like the A380. The air port is a public company owned by 90k investors. It contributes 6.4% of the NSW economy. Many people and and businesses depend on the Airport
Public ownership until 1990s until run by current company. Ground transport is biggest constraint as surrounded by water Surrounding roads are critical and currently being upgraded. Have a private train and only one public bus route. Chinese routes are the fastest growing, service ten Chinese cities by seven carriers.
Airport supports several Charities including local Rotary Clubs around the airport , Has donated $110K for the three local Rotary Clubs,
Western city Airport. Local operators of Kingsford Smith have the first right of refusal for any new airport within one hundred kms from the current airport. Badgerys Creek. The government to issue a notice of intention by the end of the year and the airport operators have 4 to 9 months to accept it or reject it.
With in 40 years there will be 160 million passenger flight movements per year , currently forty million, so three times as many.
The new air port will support South west and north east Sydney population growth areas. It will start small but will build by 2065 with full service Many questions were asked,.
Pp John Kane thanked Ted for his presentation,
