The Rosary Catholic Primary School
6th December 2019
We have a duty of care to the children in our school. This includes taking the necessary steps to safeguard them and
promote their welfare. Parents and Carers please familiarise yourself with the school’s Safeguarding Policy which
you can view on our website. Further information about keeping your child safe can also be viewed under the Parent
tab > Letters> Keeping Children Safe in Education. If you have any concerns, the school’s Designated Officer for
Safeguarding is Miss Bass and the Deputy Designated Officer is Mrs Shickle, both of whom can be contacted through
the school office.
Pope’s Prayer Intentions
In his prayer intention for the month of December, we are asked by the Holy Father
to pray for The Future of the Very Young: that every country takes the measures
necessary to prioritise the future of the very young, especially those who are
suffering.
2nd Sunday of Advent: “Through the Gospel John the Baptist continues to speak
down the centuries to each generation. His hard clear words bring health to us, the men and
women of this day in which even the experience and perception of Christmas often,
unfortunately, reflects materialist attitudes. The 'voice' of the great prophet asks us to
prepare the way for the coming Lord in the deserts of today, internal and external deserts,
thirsting for the water of life which is Christ.” — Benedict XVI
Lord God, only you can see into my heart and know that
under all the busy-ness of my life, there is a deep longing
to make this Advent one that welcomes you more deeply
into my own life.
My heart desires the warmth of your love and my mind
searches for your Light in the midst of the darkness.
Help me to be a peacemaker this Advent and to give special love to those who
disagree with me.
Give me the strength and courage to forgive those who have hurt me.
Help me to free my Heart from the prison of my anger and hurt.
Amen.

Our Trips This Week
3A Trip to Kew Gardens
On Tuesday 3rd December 3A visited Kew Gardens. It was
beautiful! We had to split into
2 groups so that we could
enjoy it even more. First my
group went to the Children’s
Garden, where there were 4
areas - Sun, Air, Water and
Earth. We know that plants need these 4 things to grow.
We then had an education session with Miss Loveday. She
was kind and happy, and showed us lots of plants and seeds, using microscopes. We
were able to show her how much we learnt in school about plants, and she was
amazed. Sadly, it was then time to return to school. We had so much fun! Alessia
Year 5 British Museum
Last Thursday we went to the British Museum. It was a terrific
experience although the journey was tiring. I enjoyed it very much.
There were so many statues and artifacts about the Ancient Greeks to
look at. We had a table activity where it told us facts about the Ancient
Greeks, especially the goddess Athena who we are focusing on. It was
amazing. Thank you to the teachers and helpers for taking us.

Inspiration Station Years 1 and 2
The winners of this week’s inspiration station are Naomi from Pandas, Aramide from
Giraffes, Tamara from Tigers and Eliza from Koalas. Here is next week’s.
Our school attendance target is 96%.
Why is regular attendance at school important?
Regular school attendance will mean that your child has a better chance in life. Your
child will achieve better when they go to school all day, every school day.
They learn better.
They make friends.
They are happier. They have a brighter future.

One of our parents is looking for a local
childminder for her 2 year old son for 3 days a

the main office and leave your details and Mrs
Kirwin will pass them on to mum. Thank you
Mystery Reader
Our thanks to Alessandro’s mum for reading the
story of The Magic Paintbrush by Julia Donaldson in
Pandas this week. They loved listening to her
reading aloud about Shen and her magic
paintbrush. “Go and catch some shrimps Shen.
Go and catch some fish. Go and gather oysters.
To fill the empty dish.”

Feeder Schools, they are also prioritising Catholic students in non-Catholic primary schools within the designated
boroughs. These students will have priority across each of the Oversubscription application criteria. The policy can

12 Smartphone Safety Tips of Christmas
Mobile phones, and smartphones in particular, are always a popular present choice at
Christmas. As children become more socially active, it’s inevitable that they’ll want to keep in
touch with their friends, not miss out on the latest news and just stay ‘cool’ at school. But do
children know how to use their phone safely? Do they know how to protect themselves? And
what do they need to be aware of? Find out with this guide.
Created by experienced writer Pete Badh, this guide provides children with twelve safety tips
intended to help them use their mobile phones safely and securely. Designed to be used as
either a resource for initial set-up or as a good reminder of general safety measures, the
guide provides children with the best ways to keep themselves and their personal information
safe. Click the link below to access your free guide now .e

Parking
We would like to remind parents to avoid driving down the
slip road in front of the school. This is a very narrow road
which quickly becomes blocked. Please use the entrance
via Winchester Avenue to access the church car park.
Parents are asked not to park across residents’ drives or
in front of the gates to the church. Please be aware that
the zig-zag lines in front of the school are there to keep
the children safe and not for parents to park on.
Fr Luigi has asked us to remind all parents to please
avoid parking directly outside the church and the priests’ house as this
restricts space and often means that the priests cannot move their car out onto the
road. Please only park in the spaces provided and do not block the gates or
park in the yellow lines as this has to be kept clear at all times. Please be
considerate in this matter. Thank you.
