After sitting in the Student Life Center with some of the best student leaders SUNY Cobleskill has to offer I was hooked on becoming a member. Nowhere else on cam- pus will you find more important decisions made that direct impact all the students. I really liked this! My main goal is to make it easier for the regular student to get in touch with the Cobleskill administra- tion, no matter what department. Here at SUNY Coble- skill we are all part of a large community, in which we all must be able to communicate freely in order to oper- ate as smoothly as possible. An analogy of my goal is that each student may not have the opportunity to have lunch Dr. Zingale, but hopefully through the Student Government Association you will know what he is eat- ing. The Student Government Association is a great part of this campus, establishing great programs and events for students to enjoy. In the next year as presi- dent I will try to continue the tradition of providing stu- dents with a phenomenal college experience through sound decision making and an open door policy to sug- gestions. THE ROLLING HILLS

THE NEW PRESIDENT OF SGA

Hello! First I would like to in-

troduce myself, my name is Tristan

A. Massalay-Ellis. I am a 3rd year,

6th semester Junior. I am 21 years old

and from Flushing, Queens. Queens

is a small county located inside of

New York City. I attended John

Bowne High School prior to coming

to SUNY Cobleskill.

Finally after five semesters

Mr. Jeff Foote and Amanda Hill con-

vinced me to attend a SGA meeting.

I was very nervous because I really

did not know many people in the organization. Thank-

fully I was immediately welcomed with open arms.

Without being a certified member I was able to voice

my opinion during meetings, which was nice because I

felt like I belonged and that my views were important.

After sitting in the Student Life Center with some of the

best student leaders SUNY Cobleskill has to offer I was

hooked on becoming a member. Nowhere else on cam-

pus will you find more important decisions made that

direct impact all the students. I really liked this!

My main goal is to make it easier for the regular

student to get in touch with the Cobleskill administra-

tion, no matter what department. Here at SUNY Coble-

skill we are all part of a large community, in which we

all must be able to communicate freely in order to oper-

ate as smoothly as possible. An analogy of my goal is

that each student may not have the opportunity to have

lunch Dr. Zingale, but hopefully through the Student

Government Association you will know what he is eat-

ing.

The Student Government Association is a great

part of this campus, establishing great programs and

events for students to enjoy. In the next year as presi-

dent I will try to continue the tradition of providing stu-

dents with a phenomenal college experience through

sound decision making and an open door policy to sug-

gestions. I look forward to seeing everyone in the fall.

THE NEW VICE PRESIDENT OF SGA

to finish my Bachelor’s degree, but when I moved here

to be closer to family, my aunt pushed me in the direc-

tion of SUNY Cobleskill as a means to finish my four

year degree. With almost two semesters under my belt,

I can now say that I am glad my aunt is a little pushy

and I am glad that I am here at SUNY Cobleskill. I

really enjoy attending a school that has so much to of-

fer.

I encourage all students to get involved. I have

the fortune of being able to compare a college experi-

ence in which I was not involved to this experience

where I have become very involved, and I can tell you

that this one is so much more fun. It is also incredibly

rewarding and gratifying. Get involved in any way you

can. Join a club. Volunteer for a service project. Attend

a campus event. Join us in Bouck Hall on Tuesday at

12:30 if you want to share your ideas. Shoot me an

email if you have an idea and you want some feed-

back. I am ready to assist in the facilitation of change.

I am ready to listen. I know that you are ready to act.

Let’s go.

My name is Katie Kogler and I

am incredibly excited for the opportu-

nity to serve as SGA Vice President

for the 2009-2010 school year. I

started at SUNY Cobleskill in August

of 2008 and have really enjoyed my

experience here up to this point and

look forward to broadening that ex-

perience in the coming year.

I moved here about a year ago

from Colorado where I attended a

small commuter campus with very

limited resources. When I graduated

from Mesa State College in 2005 with

an Associate of Art in Business Ad-

ministration, I had served as a Senate

Representative for my campus but

never really enjoyed the full experi-

ence of Student Government. I wasn’t

sure when I would go back to school

Complex, and serve as Secretary of CAS.

I wanted to become the Treasurer of SGA be-

cause after being this year’s Secretary for the

Spring Semester I knew I wanted to stay involved

with SGA and an officer position will allow me to

do so. The position of Treasurer directs club’s

money and seems to have a more active role in

dealing with stone to future involvement and in

helping fellow students clubs. I believe it to be a

all the clubs treasurers stepping stone to future in-

volvement and in helping fellow students. What

better way important to the different clubs on to

learn what is important to them by looking at what

they spent their money on?

Anyone with an interest in the working of

student activities and student leadership should

come see what SGA has to offer. My name is Kim Bottomley I’m

from Lancaster NY, a town about 7 miles

East of Buffalo. I am currently a 4 year

Culinary Management Major, with the

goal of eventually becoming a high

school or university culinary teacher.

I came to Cobleskill not only to

study but also to become involved, to be a

name not a number. The Student Life

center and Student Government were one

of the first things I learned about on cam-

pus this past year. That was probably one

of the best things for me to do because it

got me involved early and left open op-

portunities for personal growth. Student

Government is just one of many activities

that I am involved with on campus; I also

am an active member of CSA, a Student

Ambassador, a RA in the Davis/Parsons

gree in Secondary Education so that I can return to

high school and teach, hopefully being an inspiration

to my students and my peers.

When I started at SUNY Cobleskill I knew that I

wanted to find a way to better my college experience. I

went to the club fair at the beginning of the semester,

and was drawn to Student Government. I started at-

tending meetings immediately after that. The more

time I spent in Student Government, the more I en-

joyed it, and the more I felt a burning desire to do

more and more.

When it came time for elections, I knew that I

wanted an officer position. I was hesitant about run-

ning, but with the support of my family I decided to

take the plunge. Shortly after, I roped my sister into

coming to meetings and she also decided to join and

run for an officer position. The campaign was exciting

but the year ahead of me is exponentially more excit-

ing.

We look forward to working with the new team

of elected officers and being able to be a voice for the

student body. I have a strong desire to make SUNY

Cobleskill a better and more enjoyable place for all

students. I hope to be a bridge from the students to the

faculty so that more voices are heard and more ques-

tions are answered. I would also like to see more stu-

dent involvement in the campus. Becoming involved

in Student Government has already enriched my col-

lege experience more than I could ever dream of. I en-

courage all students to get involved in SOMETHING!

Whether that is a club on campus, a campus wide

event, or just spending some time getting to know your

peers and your community.

Hello! I am Stephanie Kogler,

born in central New Jersey and raised

in Colorado. I graduated from a small

private high school in May of 2008.

My graduating class consisted of sev-

enteen students, including myself. I

participated in sports and Student

Council, but the impact of these events

was only relative to the size of the

school.

I am currently in the Associate

Degree of Communication here at

SUNY Cobleskill. I will be graduating

next May. After that I am hoping to

transfer to Russell Sage College in

Troy and acquire my Bachelor’s De-

gree in English with a possible double

major in Environmental Studies. I

want to work towards a Master’s De-

THE NEW DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC RELATIONS OF SGA

are being responsible, honest, trustworthy, being

able to work with others, being able to be under-

standable, being able to make an adequate deci-

sions, and being respectful to others. My goals for

the future is to graduate here at SUNY Cobleskill

with my bachelor's in Business Administration.

Then I am going to apply for the Master's program

at SUNY Albany to obtain my Master's in Business

Administration.

My goals are for student government next year is

to be more active in students activities, to listen

what the students have to offer, and to uphold the

standards of past Director of Public Relations of

Student Government Association. One way for stu-

dents to get involve in SGA is to become a member

and when you become a member to ideas and con-

cerns will be heard. I think that my strengths are

that I am honest, trustworthy, and respectful. I will

use my good qualities by influencing others to be

good people. I plan to bring the campus together by

getting the students more involve in the student

government and more involve of the planning of

the activities that happen around campus each aca-

demic year. I plan to get more students ideas heard

about activities they would like to see what happen

on campus.

Hey everyone my name is Du-

Quan Johnson and I am the new Director

of Public Relations for Student Govern-

ment Association. I am from Newark,

New Jersey which is the largest city in

New Jersey. I am 19 years old, the second

to the oldest of 10 children.

The reason why I choose Cobleskill

to further my education is that my god-

sister went her and I wanted to follow in

here footsteps. One of the reasons I

choose to join Student Government is that

my SRA Amanda Hill thought that I

would be a good member to contribute to

Student Government Association. The

reason I why I wanted to become an offi-

cer is that I have the qualities of being an

officer for Student Government Associa-

tion. The qualities an officer should have
