Dr. Gordon specializes in general radiology, MRI Perfusion, Functional MRI, and brain tumors. Dr. Jeffery Gordon Joins Ozarks Medical Center Imaging ServicesOzarks Medical Center (OMC) Imaging Services recently add-ed Board Certified Neuroradiologist and Spinal interventionist, Dr. Jeffery Gordon, to its medical staff. Dr. Gordon specializes in general radiology, MRI Perfusion, Functional MRI, and brain tumors. He has expertise in neuro-oncology, stroke imaging, neu-rovascular disease, seizure imaging, pituitary imaging, and spine imaging and intervention. He also has advanced skills in spine pain intervention. He joins Dr. Rob Armstrong, Dr. Beth Cooper, and Dr. Jerry Howard.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Gordon to Ozarks Medical Cen-ter. Adding such an accomplished physician to our Imaging Services will help meet the growing needs of our community, and add insight on both neuroradiology and spinal intervention,” said Tom Keller, OMC President and CEO.

Dr. Gordon and his wife, Tracy, moved to West Plains from Minnetonka, MN, where Dr. Gor-don worked as a Neuroradiology and Spine Procedure Provider for Consulting Radiologists Ltd. He previously worked for 7 years at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.

“We are happy to be close to Tracy’s parents, Travis and Kathy Morrison,” says Dr. Gordon. Tracy is on the faculty at Arkansas State University as Chair of the Occupational Therapy program. In his spare time, Dr. Gordon enjoys spending time with his family.

Flu CountsFor the week ending 2/25/17, OMC’s lab processed 210 flu tests, 61 of which were positive. The distribution of cases by patients’ county of residence is below. Please remember that, while for comparative purposes we include data from the Greene County Health Department which shows all reported cases in the county, for the other counties reported only those tested through OMC’s lab are included, so those counties’ case counts are undoubtedly higher. Cerner Demonstration

Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. kicked off the first in a series of presentations by electronic health record (EHR) vendors.

More than 100 OMC coworkers are participating on core teams to advise on selection of a patient electronic record. The goal is to identify an EHR that is the best fit for Ozarks Medical Center, our patients and our array of services. Teams have been meeting to determine the cri-teria that an OMC EHR should offer and have developed score cards to compare the different products available. Three different EHR vendors will make presen-tations to OMC in the coming months. Please contact John Wilcox, Chief Infor-mation Officer for more information.

Weekly Senior Leadership ReportAdministrator on Call Hand-off – Connie Schott to Tom Keller. We were under a severe weather alert.

Good News Stories – Tom Keller reported a 6.3% margin in January (Goal is 5.0%). Gay Stover reported that the first vendor to present a combined Electronic Health Record solution is on site this week giving demonstrations.

Recognitions – Kim Thompson recognized Cheryl Ward for her prompt response to OMC staff questions on commer-cial insurance issues. Kim also recognized Sherrie Lane’s one year anniversary with OMC and the many issues and ac-complishments the pharmacy team has had. Gay Stover recognized John Wilcox and the I.T. team for work scheduling vendor demonstrations.

Round TableTom Keller – reported that a follow-up meeting on the results of the Physician Engagement Survey is being scheduled with the chief of staff and medical staff leaders.Jeff Jones, VP of Clinics Administration - reported that Galen Roberts and Lindsey Thompson will attend a 2-day physi-cian recruitment fair in Kansas City. He reported on recent orthopedic candidate visits.Kurt Abbey, CNO and VP of Nursing – reported he is interviewing candidates for the Director of Surgical Services posi-tion. He reported that he, Catherine Pearson and Dr. Bob Shaw participated along with 15 other healthcare profession-als in a mission trip to Haiti last week. The team evaluated and treated over 2,800 patients in a four-day period.Connie Schott, VP of Human Resources – presented the LDI committee’s education topic plan for 2017.

Corporate Compliance Quarterly Report – Jo Wagner presented the report that will be shared with the Board Qual-ity and Safety Committee on March 9. The quarterly report includes updates on External and Internal Review and Self-Disclosures, Corporate Compliance Survey Results, OIG (Office of the Inspector General) Top Concerns for 2017, and HIPAA Report. The Corporate Compliance Survey Report waspublished in OMCNews. Jason Staggs provided a HIPAA education video for Forums. (Copies of the video are available upon request from the PR Department.)

Turnover Report – Connie reports that January 2017 turnover is 23%, compared to the year-end 2016 turnover of 25%.

Inpatient Market Share Report – Gay Stover reported that 2016 Market Share percentages have decreased slightly from 2015 in both Howell and Oregon Counties. SL asked her to bring an additional report tracking the loss by zip code and by Major Diagnosis Code. (Inpatient Market Share is the percent of people that are admitted to OMC versus other hos-pitals. Higher is better.)

Leadership Team - Senior Leaders reviewed the Leadership Team Agenda for March 2. Thank you for your service to the patients and each other.

Dress in Support in MarchDress in support days are Fridays in March. Stickers are $5 each with proceeds going to the Cancer Treatment Fund.

Each Friday in March is “Dress in Support” of Colon Cancer Awareness. All funds raised will go to the Cancer Treatment Center.

Dress code is nice jeans and collared shirt (no T-shirts may be worn). Please verify with your su-pervisor that your department may participate before purchasing Dress in Support stickers.

Stickers may be purchased for $5.00 per Friday on the main campus at Main Admissions Registra-tion, Heart Care Services and Neurosciences; in the Shaw building at Rehabilitation Services; in Parkway in Public Relations, BHC, Finance and the Foundation; Internal Medicine; and at OMC Home Care (Riverways).

OMC Superhero Fun Run 1.5 mile • 5K • 10K • Dog Show

8 a.m. • April 22OMC Superheroes & the Cancer Treatment CenterFunds from this event benefit the OMC Cancer Treatment Center Emergency Fund. This fund helps patients that need assistance in getting to their treatments.

COUCH TO 5K ~ CLASS STARTS FEBRUARY 27Join in the fun this year! Ozarks Medical Center is offering FREE Couch to 5K training! Participate with groups or workout on your own with the Couch to 5K phone app. At the end of the 8-week program, you will be ready for your Fun Run event! All Couch to 5K participants will receive a free “Superhero in Training” t-shirt in addition to their Fun Run t-shirt. To sign up, attend the Couch to 5K Information Session on Tuesday, February 16 at 5:30 p.m. at the OMC Parkway Center or drop off your registration form to the OMC Public Relations Depart-ment (located in OMC Parkway Center) before Friday, February 24 at 5:00 p.m. The workout schedule is Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. beginning Monday, February 27 at the Carmichael Field. In case of rain/snow or extreme cold, workouts will be inside the West Plains Civic Center in the arena.

EARLY REGISTRATION ~ DUE APRIL 13Participants wishing to receive a free Fun Run t-shirt must submit their registra-tion forms by 5 p.m. April 13. Participants registering after April 13 will not receive a t-shirt. Participants may also opt out of receiving a t-shirt and designate these funds to further assist the OMC Cancer Treatment Center.

TEAM DISCOUNT Teams of five or more qualify for a discount of $5 off each individual registration. Please see the reverse side for details. All team members do not need to be entered in the same event. The discount is available to those registering online as well.

ONLINE REGISTRATIONParticipants may register online at raceroster.com. A processing fee is charged by the site. Online registration ends at 11:59 p.m. April 20.

PACKET PICKUP ~ APRIL 21The Superhero Fun Run Packet Pickup will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. April 21 at OMC Parkway Center, Willard Hunter Classroom. Participants are encour-aged to pick up their t-shirts (if registered before April 13), bibs if running in the 5K or 10K, and swag bags. A registration table also will be available. Participants in the 5K & 10K must still check in the morning of the race to receive their timing chip if they are requesting one. Participants must pick up their own packet unless they have made arrangements prior to April 21 by calling 417-257-6737 or e-mailing [email protected].

SUPERHERO SIGNSNew this year! Help us line the race course and honor a survivor or the mem-ory of one who has lost the battle. For $5 a Superhero Sign will be placed with a name of your choice to honor.

PARKING ON EVENT DAYParking at the Shaw Building will be limited and reserved for handicap partici-pants and visitors of the hospital. Parking is available in lots on the OMC campus and at the OMC Parkway Center.

EVENT DAY REGISTRATIONEntrants may register the day of the race for an additional $5 fee. Regis-tration will begin at 6:30 a.m. at the start line area in front of the Shaw Medical Building, 1111 Kentucky Avenue. Event day registration will close at 7:15 a.m.

RACE EVENTS & TIMINGThe OMC Fun Run will include 1.5 mile, 5K and 10K events. The 5K and 10K will be electronically timed using ChampionChip timing. Timing chips are available for $5 for the 5K and 10K events. Chips must be returned at the finish line. There will be a $25 fee for unreturned chips. Please do not purchase a chip if you are planning to walk the 5K or 10K. Participants in the 5K and 10K must still check in the morning of the race to receive their timing chip. Chip pickup will end 15 minutes prior to the race start at 7:45 a.m. There will be a $10 charge to change your race event after April 20.

STRETCHING CLINICOMC Wellness and Rehabilitation Services will conduct a stretching clinic to help participants warm up for their event. The clinic will be held near the start line at 7:50 a.m.

START LINE The race will begin and end at the Shaw Medical Building, 1111 Kentucky Ave-nue, West Plains. Porta-Potty facilities will be available near the start line. The race begins at 8 a.m.

AWARDS & RACE DAY EVENTSAwards Ceremony: The Awards Ceremony for the 5K will be held at 9:00 a.m., 10K Awards Ceremony will be held at 9:45 a.m., and the Spirit Awards and Corporate Team Awards will be held at 10:00 a.m. in front of the Shaw Building.

5K & 10K Finishing Times: Trophies will be awarded in the 5K and 10K events to the five overall male and female finishers. Medals will be awarded to three male and female finishers in each age division, who are not in the top five overall.

Spirit Awards: Superhero spirit awards will also be awarded to one child, one adult and one team. These awards are given to those who demonstrate the most spirit on race day. Spirit judging will take place near the start line at 7:40 a.m. You must be present for the judging in order to win.

Corporate Team Award: West Plains Bank (last year’s Corporate Team Award winner) has issued a challenge to the community encouraging other busi-nesses & groups to find creative ways to support the Cancer Treatment Center prior to the Fun Run! Join your coworkers or teammates in a fundraiser. The team who raises the most money will be awarded the Corporate Team Award, a special award to display at your business or organization. All donations must be collected and turned in by the close of the Packet Pickup at 5:30 p.m., Friday, April 21. The winner will be announced during the Fun Run Awards Ceremony on April 22.

Race Day Village: New this year! Plan to hang around for fun & food! There will be a concession stand serving breakfast and snacks, live music, Superhero face painting for the kids, vendor booths & more!

DOG SHOW & COSTUME CONTESTBack again this year! Bring the pooch out for a fun morning! If you want to participate in a walking or running event with your dog, complete the registration form on the reverse side and pay the entry for yourself and your dog, then follow all other race instructions. To just enter your dog in the Dog Show or Costume Contest, pay the $5 registration fee for your dog. The Dog Show and Costume Contest will begin at 9:15 a.m. in front of the Shaw Building. You may sign up for the Dog Show and Costume Contest the morning of the event beginning at 7:30 a.m. All dogs must be registered for the Dog Show & Costume Contest by 8:45 a.m. All dogs must be on a leash and have current rabies vaccination per city ordinance.

Dog Show Awards: Awards given for the Dog Show include: Best Small Dog, Best Medium Dog, Best Large Dog, Best Costume Small Dog, Best Costume Medium Dog, Best Costume Large Dog, and Best of Show. Judging will take place during the Dog Show that begins at 9:15 a.m. on April 22. Awards will be given following the show.
