June Special EventsARMCHAIR TOUR OF THE UNIVERSEMonday, June 19, 4pmBring your curiosity and questions, and join Don German, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab’s Solar System Ambassador for outer Cape Cod. Enjoy a sense of wonderment and awe as he guides us thru our own galaxy and the outer reaches of others using images from the Hubble Space Telescope and introducing us to the Webb Space Telescope scheduled for launch next year. As an Army vessel master, Don became expert in celestial navigation—navigating by the stars, planets, sun and moon. After retiring, he taught astronomy at Tellus Science Museum in Georgia. Now, he and his husband own the Ray Wiggs Gallery in Provincetown. This is the first of Don’s two presentations here. In the fall, he will bring his telescope, allowing us to engage directly with Provincetown’s observable universe. DINNER IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING Residents may invite friends and family to join them for this program and dinner. Our chefs will prepare specials for you to choose from: Meat Loaf, baked potato and peas; and either Chicken Scampi or Shrimp Scampi with grape tomatoes, scallions, and parmesan cheese on angel hair pasta. BYOB. Residents use their meal plans, guests will be charged $15 to residents’ monthly invoice. RSVP at Desk with meal choice by June 12, or see Sheila.
