Co-organized by MIT Technology Review and Koelnmesse, EmTech Singapore is a platform for business leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, and change makers based in APAC who are passionate about turning ideas into solutions and addressing major global issues. Throughout the year, MIT Technology Review, the world’s oldest and most respected technology publication, uncovers and explains the significance of new disrupting technologies that are creating new markets and changing our societies. The editorial content is brought to life through the EmTech conferences held around the world. Hosted by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and supported by SMART (the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology), Obsidian Strategics, TATA Communications, Ynsect and Starhub, EmTech Singapore 2015 featured a comprehensive two-day conference programme which provided participants with a glimpse into the future technologies that will change our lives.

The diverse group of speakers covered developments in areas such as Robotics, Space, Internet of Everything (IoE), Smart Nations, Augmented Reality, Artificial Intelligence, 3D Bioprinting, Business Innovation and much more. Participants came from a diverse range of industries and sectors, from government organisations, private corporations to investors, venture capitalists and entrepreneurs. The event provided a platform where new partnerships were formed and existing ones reinforced.

EmTech Singapore also features the regional TR35 Innovators Under 35 competition. Selected by a distinguished panel of judges, 10 young innovators under the age of 35, presented a three-minute elevator pitch on the EmTech stage. Their inventions and research were found to be most groundbreaking and exciting from a regional list of nominations.

MIT Technology Review has been recognizing top young innovators under 35 globally since 1999. Today, the TR35 Innovators Under 35 competition runs in 20 different countries, including Singapore.

The regional Innovators Under 35 competition is open to citizens or residents of Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Australia and New Zealand. Nominations spanned a wide range of fields, including biomedicine, computing, communications, energy, materials, web and transportation.

10 finalists were selected by an esteemed panel of judges. They were honoured at EmTech Singapore where each delivered a three minutes elevator pitch. They automatically become candidates and potential finalists for the global TR35 list celebrated in the fall of 2015 in Boston. MIT Technology Review also showcases these global winners in the September/October issue of the magazine and online at www.technologyreview.com/tr35
