• Geographical Location• Aklan is located in the Western Visayas and in the

northwest portion of Island of Panay bordered by the provinces of Iloilo, Capiz, and Antique.

• Amount of Precipitation • 114.3 inches per year

• Climate & Weather

• Climate Temperature generally range from 77-90°F from February or March, and increase to the 82-100°F for the rest of the year.

• Weather in Aklan is classified into two~ Dry season from December to May and wet season the rest of the year. In December, Aklan usually experience Heaviest rainfall.

AKLAN HAVE SEVERAL ENDEMIC SPECIES AND THERE ARE CONSERVATION EFFORTS BEING MADE BY DENR AND AKLAN

STATE UNIVERSITY.

LISTED BELOW ARE THE DOMINANT VEGETATIONS AND THE COMMON ANIMALS WHICH CAN BE FOUND IN THE PROVINCE OF

AKLAN.

THE BIOME

• The province of Aklan is considered as a Tropical Rainforest Biome because it characterized as a high rainfall area and been home for a many species of organisms, for fauna like Visayan Warty Pig and Philippine Flying Lizard and for flora like Bamboo Tree and Yellow Hibiscus.• It is also boasts with high geographic diversity

ranging from sandy white beach like the island of Boracay which classified as one of the World’s best beaches, to Mountainous Landscapes and even the swiftness river and broad waterfalls.

PhilippineSpotted Deer

(Cervus alfredi)

• It is small and short-legged yet it is the largest endemic species of deer among the Visayas.

Philippine Flying Lizard

(Draco volans)

•They are 'flying' because they have a flap on their sides running from the front to the back, on both sides, that serves as

their wings.

Visayan Warty Pig

(Sus cebifrons)

• It is endemic to six islands in the Philippines. It is now extinct on four of the islands.

• Its name came from the three pairs of fleshy warts present on the visage of the boar and speculate assist as a natural defense against.

Bariw Tree(Pandanus

spiralis)

• The plant bears a large, pineapple-like fruit that turns red when ripe. Humans can extract the fruit's seeds, grinding them into flour.

• It also have a mashed leaves can be used to cure headaches when tied around the head.[

Yellow Hibiscus(Hibiscus

brackenridgei)

•It is a tall shrub that can be up to 10 m/33 ft. with bright yellow flowers.

•It is listed as endangered species.

Grey Mangroves(Avicennia

marina)

• It is grow as a shrub or tree to a height of three to ten metres, or up to 14 metres in tropical regions.

• It has been reported to tolerate extreme weather conditions, high winds, and various pests and diseases.

IMPORTANCE

• This kind of biome is importance to us because it is home for many species including us. It is also help the ecology to maintain global weather.

• It is also moderate the flow of river which cause the flood in the urban areas.

• It is also act like a giant filter that help maintain the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and it is protect our home, Earth, against the greenhouse effect.

• As a BS-HRIM student that give service and cook food, the tropical rainforest offers a bounty of food that use as an ingredients in every dishes we offer and it is also home and source for vital medicine.
