The PROMONT PRESS NEWSLETTER OF THE GREATER MILFORD AREA HISTORICAL SOCIETY — NOVEMBER 2021
ART AFFAIRE RETURNS September 25, 2021— Art Affaire, the main fund-
raising event for GMAHS, took place on a near-
perfect Saturday in historic downtown Milford.
Over 90 artists displayed their work to a jubilant
crowd. Many artists reported having their best
sale day ever. The community seemed delighted
to have the event return after 2020’s cancella-
tion. Live music by several local musicians and
groups was better than ever and very popular with
guests. The total number of participating artists
and vendors was down a
bit from 2019, but the
net dollars raised was
close to previous years’
totals, thanks to savings
and simplification.

Fall Private
Events The late summer and fall
continued to be busy with
lots of fun and beautiful
private parties hosted at
Promont, including a
special Victorian Party on
September 19, 2021.
Private events allow
groups to fully enjoy the
historic atmosphere, and
are key to the financial
solvency of the society.
1900s Promont Kitchen
Currently in process is a minor re-
modeling of the original Promont
kitchen, in keeping with the rest of
the house museum. The room is be-
ing restored to how it may have
looked in 1900 when the Pattisons
lived in the home, Come see us on
the upcoming home tour dates for a
hands- on, up-close experience of a
kitchen from the past. The gift shop
is being condensed and moved to the
corner of the space, where it was
formerly located.
Promont Spruce Up Day
On Saturday, October 9th, GMAHS
hosted a Promont Spruce-Up Day. In
just three hours, twenty plus volun-
teers, including students from the
Goshen Middle School Honor Society,
cleaned the home, readied the histor-
ic kitchen for the display change, tore
out the old servant stair carpet,
trimmed bushes, and accomplished
some much-needed reorganization. One member donated bagels and
fruit, and the amazing volunteers
managed to have fun and enjoy each
other’s company and the feeling of
accomplishment. Another Spruce Up
Day is scheduled for
Saturday, November
13th from 1:30 to
4:30 pm, with beer
and snacks to follow.
Please join us for
some sprucing-up!

Historic Home Tour Returns
We plan a return of the Milford Historic
Home Tour April 23, 2022. This will be a
key fundraiser, but will also help GMAHS
realize our mission of sharing local history
with the community. Call 513.248.0324 or
email [email protected] if you are
interested in having your historic home
considered for the tour, know
of interested homeowners, or
would like to volunteer to
help with the event. This
should be a fun way to bring
Milford together with history.
Eagle Scout Gazebo and
Bench Renovation
Owen Frondorf, along with fellow scouts
from Milford Troop 128, family and
other volunteers, completed a gor-
geous restoration of the gazebo cedar
shake roof and cupola, along with
sanding and repainting of the wooden
park benches
on the grounds
of Promont.
Owen is a jun-
ior at Milford
High School,
where he is a
member of the
marching band and chorus. The project
is key to him earning his Eagle rank.
Troop 128 is led by Scout Master Peter
Jofriet. Many thanks to Owen and spon-
sor Amy Pritts, Vice President of the
GMAHS Board.
Now is the time to renew your GMAHS membership! Please
watch your mail and send in your 2022 membership promptly. If you joined in the second half of 2021 — you are automatically
renewed for 2022!
