Quality Achievements:

Plastech’s OEM PPMs (defective parts per million) have been reduced by

68% based on 4th quarter performance. This demonstrates the marked

quality improvement across all plants.

In the last few months, Plastech has reduced incidents at the plant level

by 40%. In the month of April, Plastech had only 160 total incidents, in

contrast to the 2006 4th quarter OEM average of 268.

For the months of May and June, Plastech currently has zero third party

containments at our OEMs. This reduction is huge improvement in

comparison to the 4th quarter of 2006 where we had an average of 11

third party containment actions a month.

Overall, the 2007 quality metrics continue to show positive trends in all

categories as we move towards becoming a world class supplier.

New & On-Going Projects:

The newsletter is back! If you have any information you would like to

include, please email: [email protected].

19 years ago, Plastech Engineered Products began with the purchase of a single injection molding facility in Caro, MI. Since that inception in 1988, Plastech has matured into a company of 13,800 employees in 45 manufacturing and corporate facilities throughout North American with 2007 sales forecasted to exceed $1.5B dollars.

And we continue to grow.

Plastech has a storied history of making well thought out strategic business decisions, especially in the tenuous climate of the current automotive industry. In 2004, Plastech acquired LDM Technologies, gaining new technology, capabilities and facilities. In 2006, Plastech launched a strategic Delta Township facility in Lansing, Michigan to supply Fascia Assemblies to General Motors. Now, the Plastech leadership has made another maneuver to assure continued growth and prosperity of the Company.

On April 1st, 2007, Plastech became the contract manufacturer for Johnson Controls Incorporated’s Interior Division, which includes four North American plants. These plants are located in Holland, MI;

Ramos Azripe, Mexico; Puebla, Mexico; and Whitby, Ontario. These facilities currently manufacture door panels, floor consoles, overhead consoles, cargo management systems, garnish trim, sun visors, headrests, armrests, door inserts and a variety of other Interior Trim products. With this agreement, Plastech has solidified a profitable and

mutually beneficial, long term relationship with JCI.

JCI currently accounts for 22% of Plastech’s total revenue. With this deal, JCI will comprise more than 48% of our total revenue. Additionally, Plastech’s status as a minority-owned supplier will also help JCI meet certain minority sourcing goals.

Plastech will now have control of 44 North American facilities with a wide array of capabilities and specialties. This agreement also gives Plastech a new presence in Mexico, which will lead to new strategic opportunities.

As Plastech continues to grow to the goal of becoming the company of choice, this arrangement with JCI will assure that Plastech remains a profitable and viable entity and positioned for long term sustainability.

The RT Console: A Dream DesignPlastech’s Industrial Design Center is a customer-focused design facility, dedicated to providing our global customers with everything from design concepts to prototypes to final class-A surfaced parts. The people who work inside are the dreamers of Plastech, combining style, elegance and innovation with imagination.

Recently, this group was responsible for the creation of the next generation console on the Chrysler Minivan. Plastech’s role in the development of the RT Premium Console was critical in all phases of the design process. From initial sketches to manufacturing, Plastech was responsible for delivering a thoroughly integrated, highly functional and aesthetically pleasing product.

The Plastech Design Team worked together to efficiently bring the concept of a multi-layered sliding console to production. Packaging, ergonomics, function, materials, color and overall aesthetics were all considered throughout the design process. Our Industrial Designers incorporated themes from the RT interior to ensure the console was in harmony with other interior components.

What makes this project unique is that Plastech is currently the only company who can make this console, which highlights our company’s ability to take a concept from cradle to production, from an idea to a working part. Production on the Chrysler minivan begins later next month.

Plastech Opens Warren Sequencing Center In

Record TimeIn a continuing effort to maintain a productive and

profitable manufacturing footprint, Plastech has

opened a new sequencing center in Warren, MI.

Warren Sequencing is within seven miles of

Chrysler’s Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (SHAP)

and will sequence the Chrysler Sebring and the

Dodge Avenger programs. This 105,000 square

foot facility employs 50 hourly workers and an

additional six full time staff.

The most amazing aspect of this plant, however,

involves team execution. Warren Sequencing was

planned, set up and launched within nine weeks

of the decision to move forward with a sequencing

center near SHAP.

With Warren Sequencing and Plastech’s new Carpet

& Acoustics facility in Georgia, this brings the total

number of Plastech manufacturing facilities to 41.

Empowering Women In The WorkplacePlastech is a woman-owned and operated company. While we believe in equal opportunity for all employees, we feel a moral obligation to develop women to be the best they can be, to help them gain promotional opportunities inside and outside of Plastech.

As part of our development efforts, the “Women of Plastech” from all areas of the company gather on a regular basis to discuss various topics ranging from professional mentoring to sharing experiences on how to balance work and personal lives.

These meetings provide an open forum for women to learn from each and voice their concerns and ambitions.

Between 40 and 50 women from a variety of departments and backgrounds gather to discuss a range of topics:

From the Classroom to the Board Room:What do women need to know about managing their own career to succeed in business?

What are the challenges within our organization that you foresee developing within the next 5 years and what can we do to meet those challenges?

The Essence of Leadership:What qualities do all great leaders have? What type of leadership do we possess or lack in this organization?

The Qualities of Leadership: • Managers have to be Leaders – To be successful you must have the passion to improve the business and the capability to drive efforts through to completion

• Competence, ability and teamwork

• Leaders go beyond their job description to make a difference and a change

• Be an Ambidextrous Leader – One hand is responsible for executing current business while the other finds ways to improve and manage large scale change successfully

Top executives are also asked to participate in these dinners. To date Matt DeMars, Ronnie Lewis, Paul Williams and Bob Crockett have all attended to discuss the challenges and successes of their careers, how they got started in the automotive industry and how passion has kept them in this business.

The latest dinner was held on July 11th and featured guest speakers Chris Williams, Mike Chiado, and Paul Gorcyca. This roundtable discussion focused on three major areas:

1. Burn Out: What are the causes and effects of getting burned out and how do you avoid them?

2. Priorities: How do we set priorities and communicate priorities between managers and employees?

3. Asking for Help: Do we ask for help and, if not, why don’t we?

For more information on the next Women’s Development dinner, please contact Junius Monette.

“Leaders are people who leave

their footprints in their areas of

passion.”

Plastech Organization Structure

As Plastech continues to grow and as the requirements from our customers continue to increase, we have to divide and conquer. The margin of error becomes smaller and smaller. At all times, we have to be the best we can be. To that effect, Plastech’s matrix organization creates a series of checks and balances to help us reach these goals

The business units bring focus and expertise. The presidents of these business units are responsible for profits, growth and customer satisfaction. They DRIVE corporate initiatives to achieve these goals.

The manufacturing organization is responsible for the cost and quality. Their main focus is to maintain stability and consistencies in process from the plants.

We believe the new organization will drive out waste and help the company achieve excellence. It will help us be a company of choice that customers want to do business with, a company where our employees thrive.

The matrix is set up to provide maximum support from several different areas of the business. This brings a wealth of experience, know-how and perspective to each situation

and maintains a laser-like focus on each problem.

On the left hand side of the chart (see next page) are the functional executives: Operating, Purchasing, Engineering, IT, Minority Development, Business Development and Finance, Sales & Marketing, Program Management and Manufacturing Engineering, Legal, HR and Quality. These executives remain focus on providing support, driving business growth, and maintaining the day to day operations of the company. Across the top are Plastech’s Business Unit Presidents: Interior, Exterior, Carpet, Blow Molding & Fuel Tanks and JCI. Instead of managing specific customers, these executives are now responsible for the entirety of a business unit, from driving EBITDA to securing new business, such as fuel tanks and carpet, two recent new endeavors for Plastech.

While the vision of the company remains the same, the structure of the company has realigned to maximize time and talent as well as improve communication throughout the company.

Along with this organization realignment comes a fresh set of responsibilities and expectations. The executive teams meets constantly to address and adjust its goals, always striving to improve the business and customer satisfaction. By shifting a focus in this way, it improves customer approval and overall quality, which in turn creates new business opportunities and helps Plastech gain a reputation as the company of choice.
