THE PLACEMENT CELL REPORT: 2015-16 The Placement Cell started functioning with the appointment of the committee for the Academic Year 2015-16, which is listed below: Faculty in Charge Prof.SudarshanaSaikia Secretary Ishani Chattopadhyay Joint Secretary JanhaviJadhav Joint Secretary Shivam Arora Finance Secretary Adhishree Aras Finance Secretary Kiran Bhatia Student Representative Trunali Pawar Student Representative Sanket Srinivasan The Placement Cell started functioning with a very clear objective of ensuring a higher placement record and a better reach to the students of the college. To facilitate this objective, a ‘Placement Awareness Programme’ was conducted, under which, the Placement representatives visited each division of the B.Com and BMS classes to give a short presentation on the Placement Cell and its planned activities for the current year, replete with a timeline. This ensured that the students were well informed about the placement activities of the college and their part in it. The Placement Cell conducts the following main activities in the college: 1. Articleship Hiring for CA students 2. Placements for Final Year Students 3. Internship placements The following Training Activities are also conducted: 1. Mock Group Discussion- Personal Interview Session: Date:15 th September, 2015. Speaker- Dr. Ashish Sen (DGM- HPCL) The Mock Group Discussion-Personal Interview Session was conducted on 15 th September, 2015 by Dr. Ashish Sen, DGM of HPCL. He briefed the students about what exactly is a Group Discussion and how students should go about it and how the Recruiters analyse the students during a GD session. WRT Personal Interviews, Dr. Sen had guided the students on essential aspects like body language, confidence, communication skills and how students should put across their points with Diplomacy as and when required. This session was attended by 80 students.

2. Resume Building Workshop

Date: 17thOctober, 2015 Speaker: Miss Esther Rodrigues (HR- Smart Link) The Resume Building Workshop was conducted on 17th October, 2015 by Miss Esther Rodrigues, HR at Smart Link. It was conducted to train the students on how to construct a Resume.There were around 60 students who had attended the session.

This year the training activities where conducted by industry experts so that the students have a better understanding as to what the companies are looking for in a student. The Articleship Hiring season at Podar in 2015-16, was attended by the following companies:

The Placement Cell had also taken up Winter Internships and did receive a tremendous response from not just start – ups but also from prominent companies like Cadbury and HDFC bank. A total of 44 students were placed in the First Placement Week, a 37.5% rise over last year’s 32, which was a composite of the First Placement Week. While last year in total , i.e., a composite of two Placement Weeks , 44 students had been placed but this year 44 students got placed in the First Placement Week itself. The Average Salary Offeredon Campus this year was Rs. 3 lakh p.a. Mondelez India (Cadbury) recruited the following students for their Winter Internship Programme:

The summer interns were given stipend on a pro - rata basis. The Placement Cell has run very smoothly with regular meetings and co-ordination between its highly dedicated members. The Placement Cell is a 37 member strong forum now, with a larger bias towards First Year Students, who are to lead the forum in the coming years. The Placement Cell has again followed its motto “Our Success, lies in your success” in the most upright and ethical manner this year too.
