Annual Report – 2019-20

The placement activities of the college are managed by the placement cell.

Members of placement cell includes 1. Dr Lekshmy Prasannan (Co-ordinator)

2. Smt. Parvathi. S. Babu. 3. Smt. Shibitha Thampi 4. Dr Abisha. R. 5. Dr. Sreela.S.R.

The placement cell intends to undertake various activities of training and grooming of

students in terms of conducting interviews, group discussions, CV preparation etc.

The placement cell attempts to organize campus interviews by inviting various

companies for the placement of students who are in the final year of the programme.

Workshop on Resume Wrtitng

A workshop on resume writing was organised by the placement cell on 6th

March 2020 at 10.30 AM. The welcome address was given by Dr. Lekshmy

Prasannan, Coordinator of Placement Cell. The meeting was chaired by Dr. K.C.

Preetha, Principal, SN College, Varkala, Dr.Babitha.G.S, IQAC Coordinator Smt

Joly.A, Head, Dept of Chemistry and Dr. Prajith. J.P, Club Coordinator. The resource

person for the seminar was Smt Devi Sundar, Director, Space Salute Training &

Consultancy Solutions

The Resume Writing Workshop was attended by selected final year students of

all disciplines. It was designed to assist the students to write the most

effective resumes that reflect their accomplishments, skills, and experiences in relation

to the job they are applying for. The resource person provided detailed explanations of

the step by step processes and important tips in preparing an effective resume through

power point slide presentation. The workshop was an interactive one and students

were given hands on tips on resume writing. Feedback was collected from the

students. They were of the opinion that the session was both interactive and

informative and they became knowledgeable on effective resume writing. The vote of

thanks was delivered by Ms.Sakiya , 6th

semester student of the Dept of Commerce.

Workshop on Interview Skills

A workshop on Interview skillsKiran Sureshkumar was organised by the

placement cell on 6th

March 2020 at 1.30 PM. The welcome address was given by Dr.

Lekshmy Prasannan, Coordinator of Placement Cell. The meeting was chaired by

Dr.K.C.Preetha, Principal, SN College, Varkala. Dr. Babitha.G.S, IQAC Coordinator

and Dr. Prajith.J.P , Club Coordinator rendered felicitation speech. The resource

person for the seminar was Smt Devi Sundar, Director, Space Salute Training &

Consultancy Solutions. Post graduate and Undergraduate students of Chemistry,

Geology, Economics, History and Commerce participated actively in the workshop. It

was organized in the seminar hall and began by 1.30 PM. The Resource Person made

a vibrant and versatile presentation of the topic. The workshop made the students

confident and more prepared in attending upcoming interviews. Students were

enlightened on how to make a competent and memorable first impression. They were

given useful tips on how to answer tricky questions and dress codes for interviews.

Feedback received from the students were very satisfying and positive. Mayuri. M of

6th

semester HM delivered vote of thanks.

Placement Drive: - A placement drive which was proposed to be undertaken on

March 23rd and 24th in the college campus was cancelled due to the covid

pandemic.

Orientation on placement opportunities in Oil and Gas Industry

Oil and Gas industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the world which

offers you a successful career as well as better future. An orientation

programme for the final year Bcom finance and HM students was organized on

26th February 2020 to make them aware of the immense opportunities in this

industry in India as well as abroad. Mr. Aaron Abraham John, executive

director of the Airon group was the resource person for the programme.
