OUR FOUNDERHistory has produced many a great man who rose legendarily from trial to triumph by virtue of their sustained unrelenting work. The life of Janab Thangal Kunju Musaliar, the founder of TKM College trust, belongs to this fraternity. Janab Thangal Kunju Musaliar carved a niche for himself in the annals of Kerala’s socio-economic life in the 20th century. He was a philanthropist, business mag-nate, industrialist, educationist, writer and publisher, nationalist, social reformer and above all, an ideal human being worthy to be emulated. Janab Musaliar was among the earliest to respond to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s clari-on call to building up a modern India. Identifying that edu-

cation is the best foundation in the process of nation building; he made a great contri-bution to the process through the foundation of ‘TKM College Trust’. His extraordinary vision saw the birth of TKM College of Engineering in 1956.

While laying the foundation stone of TKM College of Engineering on 3rd February 1956, the first President of the Republic of India, Dr.Rajendra Prasad said, “I wish education in our country should inculcate in each child a national outlook”. By imparting training to students from all over India and abroad, TKM College of Engineering is not only fulfilling the vision of that great patriot, but has been able to occupy a place in the global technical education scenario.

The College was inaugurated by Prof. Humayoon Kabir, the then Minister of Scientific and Cultural affairs, Government of India on 3rd July 1958. The inauguration of this first grant-in-aid engineering college in the private sector in Kerala is closely related to the socio-cultural and educational history of the state.

The College has 12 academic departments right now. The Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Departments are recognized research centers of the University of Kerala. All departments are research centers under APJAKTU. Academics, research and campus life in TKM College of Engineering are blessed with its location in a village environment at Karicode.

CAREER GUIDANCE & PLACEMENT UNITThe Career Guidance and Placement Unit(CGPU) has played a vital role in having the students of the institution well placed the world over. With a close watch on the changing employment scenario, the CGPU guides students in their career options and facilitates recruitment drives of prestigious compa-nies.The 2020-21 year pass out students of TKM College of Engineering have been offered 708 job offers in 66 plus companies visited last year. Major recruitment happened in the areas like Machine learning, AI, Data Analytics and Manufacturing sector. All eligible students of the circuit branches were offered at least one job. For the students of the other branches placements are more than 75%. A few students have opted for higher studies, foreign universities and Civil service as future options.The number of students placed, the number of companies visited, the maximum CTC offered, the highest average salary etc. are the all-time high. Till now the highest CTC offered is 18 LPA and the average CTC was 4.5 LPA. 77 students were offered more than 7 Lakhs per annum. The major recruiters visited the campus this year are Bharati Indus Towers, MRF, Analog Devices, Oracle, H & R, TCS, Infosys, Byjus, Cognizant, Wipro, Envest-net, VI, SOTI, TISMO, South Indian Bank, Federal Bank etc. to name a few.The placement process of the 2021-22 outgoing batch is in full swing now. Ms.Swati Suresh Nair, final year student of 2022 batch, was offered Rs. 33 lakhs yearly salary by M/s Virtusa, an US based company.

APJ ABDUL KALAM TECHNOLOGICALUNIVERSITY (APJAKTU)The students admitted since 2015 are affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, which has come into existence through an ordinance issued by the Government of Kerala on May 14, 2015. The academic regulation, scheme and syllabus of the university are available in www.ktu.edu.in

ACADEMIC MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE - ETLABCollege uses the web based Academic Manage-ment Software, Etlab, to accommodate all academ-ic and administrative needs. This software integrates various academic activities like live delivery of lectures through online platforms, conducting online tests and quizzes, attendance management, teach-ers evaluation, etc.. Students and parents can view the details of attendance, assessments, progress reports, performance analysis, etc. in Etlab. Parents can monitor their wards' progress as well. It also supports administrative activities which include student admission, online fee payment, faculty and students profile management, grievance redressal, etc. Etlab AMS can be accessed using the URL “ https://t-kmce.etlab.in ” . The mobile application of this AMS can be downloaded from Google Play Store as “Etlab”(https://play.google.com/store/apps/de-tails?id=in. etuwa.app). Etlab student/parent app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store too. Students can login to this system using admission number as username and password initially. For example, if the admission number of a student is 201234, then the username and password will be 201234. Parents can also login with the username Padmission no. (P201234) and password is admission number (201234) through Parent login. CENTRAL LIBRARY & INFORMATION CENTREThe College library was established in 1958. The various sections of the library include the reference section, acquisition /technical section, circulation section, SC/ST book bank, etc. The students can borrow five books at a time for a loan period of 30 days. Books can be renewed once for 15 days. The Central Library is a member of NLIST, DELNET and National Digital library. Under this scheme, we subscribe to more than 10,000 electronic journals and 1.65 lakh e-books. Central Library is subscribed to e-journals of American Society of Civil Engineers (ACSE), American Society of Mechanical Engineers(ASME), Springer, Elsevier's Science Direct, IEEE(ASPP), EBSCO Architecture. As part of e-Shodh Sindhu, Central Library is entitled to access to Web of Science. The central library also subscribes e-books of Pearson. National Programme for Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) Videos are also available in the library.
