Welcome

Thank you for joining us for our services today. If you are a visitor, please take a moment to stop by our Welcome Center and sign our guest book.

“Something from Sam”

Today’s message is the last from the sermon series, “New Testament Examples of Conversion”. We have been taking a look at the book of Acts and seeing just how people were converted to Christianity or how they were “saved”. We have seen how Peter used the keys that Jesus gave to him to open the door of God’s Kingdom and how subsequent preachers used the same keys. This final message involves a Jailer from the city of Philippi, the amazing faith of Paul and Silas, and a miracle that God performed to get the attention of the jailer, along with all the other prisoners. The final conclusion from this entire series that I hope that you were all able to grasp is that everyone in the early church was saved in the same way and people today are STILL saved in the same way! THANK YOU JESUS, for Your saving power!

As I mentioned in this article last week, we have completed our plans for what you can expect during the first phase of our re-opening. They can be found on both our Facebook page and website. We have another meeting scheduled for TODAY, where we hope to be able to announce our re-opening date! When that happens, we will post it on our Facebook page and website. We will also be making phone calls and sending out letters to announce the date. As always, feel free to call the office or me, Tyler, or one of the Elders with ANY questions regarding the present situation or the future plan for re-opening. Finally, please remember to STAY FAITHFUL! Our loving God is still and always in control! PRAISE THE LORD!

Sermon Tonight: No evening service

What must I do to be saved?

The Bible teaches that salvation and the forgiveness of sins is achieved only by the grace of God through the blood of Jesus Christ. (Matthew 26:28; Romans 5:9; Ephesians 2:8-9; 1 Peter 1:18-19; 1 John 1:7) The Bible teaches that one receives God’s grace by:

Having faith in Christ, trusting Him as both Lord and Savior. (John 3:16; Acts 16:31: Hebrews 11:6)

Repenting from sin. (Luke 13:3, 5; Acts 2:38; 17:30; II Corinthians 7:10: II Peter 3:9)

Confessing Christ. (Matthew 10:32-33; Acts 8:37; Romans 10:9-10)

Being immersed (baptized) into Christ for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Mark 16:16; Matthew 28:18-20: John 3:3, 5; Acts 2:38; 22:16; Romans 6:3-11; Galatians 3:26-27; Colossians 2:12; I Peter 3:21)

Youth News

Good Morning,

This morning I regret to inform you that this week Round Lake cancelled their summer camps for the time being. I say “time being” because there is still a possibility that some of the later summer can be saved. Here is an excerpt from the letter they sent out this week:

"As new information on the virus comes available and restrictions lift, we will look at when and how to resume in-person programming. Though we don’t know dates, we are already working on how it can be done safely. It is possible that you may see additional programs added to the schedule in the late summer and early fall if this can be done safely and in compliance with government regulations and recommendations in place at that time."

I know this is not the news we want to hear. My family is bummed as we were looking forward to a couple weeks there as well. I would encourage you to continue to pray for this camp. This is disappointing for our campers but also for the camp as well. No camp means loss of money. Loss of money obviously makes it hard to keep the doors open.

There is good news; this is just the news from Round Lake. As of now, Wakatomika Christian Service Camp is still planning on holding their camps. They have switched the dates to push them back, but the plan is to still open their doors. Feel free to check out their website for dates, or contact me and I will give you any info I am able to.

Sorry for the bad news,

Tyler

The Philippian Jailer Acts 16:22-34

The point that is necessary to get across as we study this story about the conversion of the Philippian Jailer is that people need to know WHAT to believe about Jesus before they can respond!

I. The Background

A. Paul was on his second missionary journey and had received a vision to go into Macedonia (present day Europe).

B. After casting a demon out of a slave-girl, Paul and Silas were arrested, stripped, beaten, and thrown into prison. – Acts 16:22-24 – Yet… they were rejoicing! – James 1:2

C. Paul and Silas displayed an attitude of praise in spite of the dreadful conditions they found themselves in. – Acts 16:25

II. The Miracle – Acts 16:26

A. Not only had the stocks been loosened from the wall or floor, but had also been unlocked

from their feet, a miracle that would take more than just an earthquake. – Acts 16:27

B. The jailer was going to kill himself because if the prisoners he was responsible for escaped, he would have probably been killed by the Roman authorities. But Paul kept him from doing that! – Acts 16:28-30

C. The result of the miracle, at least for the jailer, was the question he asked in verse 30, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

III. The Message – Acts 16:31

A. Yes, the jailer was told to believe in the Lord Jesus, but he had not yet been told WHAT to

believe about him!

B. After Paul and Silas answered the jailer’s question about salvation (V. 31), they then “spoke the word of the Lord” to him in order to tell him WHAT to believe! – Acts 16:32-33

C. Like so many of the conversions found in Acts, the jailer “rejoiced greatly” after he knew he was now saved. – Acts 16:34

When your strength is gone and your resources depleted, know this: God can and will set you free through the blood of His Son Jesus! All it takes is for you to say “Yes” to following Him!
