Architectural Review Committee - A.R.C. NOTESNancy Hamman, Chairperson, 609-489-4915
WOW - Can we say it enough - Welcome to 2020!!! We are in the first month of the year but also know that some of you are already planning for the future. Might be new windows, might be a needed roof, or possibly a new patio or addition.
Whatever it might be, please remember to follow the ARC Guidelines and Regulations. The first step is to complete an application (available at the Office),
make sure the Contractor has filed in the Office the necessary insurance for the development guidelines and then submit the completed application with your detailed plans to the ARC. With the construction at the Clubhouse, we still plan to meet as timely as we can to approve applications. Please bare with us if there is a slight delay due to the Clubhouse project.
By the time you read this message the holidays should be over, and your Board of Trustees hope that yours was happy and healthy.
If you have stopped by the clubhouse recently, you would have noticed that the clubhouse lighting has improved. We have changed all the light bulbs to brighter and more efficient LED bulbs, which are less expensive to run and will last much longer than standard bulbs.
You would also have noticed that preparations are taking place in anticipation of the upcoming construction. Books and kitchen supplies have been temporarily moved to the ceramics room. The ceramics room will also serve as a temporary office. You will have to access the temporary office through the door near the garbage enclosure. We apologize for any inconvenience that may arise.
As of now everything is on schedule, and we expect the project should be comp leted by the end of February. All ongoing activities that take place in the clubhouse will be put on hold until March. We thank you in advance f or your patience.
Please note that due to the construction, the February 12th Open Board Meeting will be rescheduled to March 18th at 2 p.m..
Believe it or not, we are now shifting our focus and preparing for the upcoming pool season. We will be talking about anything significant concerning the pool over the next few months.
Please check The Breeze for procedures to be followed in the event of a winter storm.
Your Board of Trustees would like to wish all of our neighbors and friends and their families a Happy and Healthy New Year!

CLEVER TIPSIf you have a tip please submit it with your name, to The Breeze.
Grocery Bag Shoe CoversReuse plastic grocery bags as shoe savers. Just
put them over your shoes when you have to come back into your house. The plastic keeps dirt and water contained in the bag and the handle loops can be tied around your ankles to keep them on when you step inside your house for a quick break from outside work.

GETTING UP CORRECTLY
One in three seniors falls each year. Even worse, those who have already fallen once are even more likely to fall again in the future.
Despite all your efforts to be careful and follow the suggestions to prevent falls, you may still fall. If you have a fall, do not panic. Although you may feel shocked, remaining calm will help you to assess the situation. Stay where you are and be still for a few moments. Rest on your side to allow our body and blood pressure to adjust. Then while lying in place, check your body for any pain or injury.
Call for help. Use an alarm, shout, bang on the wall. Always keep your cell phone with you so you can call for help. Call 911 if you are injured.
If you are not hurt and you feel able to get up safely crawl on your hands and knees to the nearest sturdy chair or stairway. Supporting your weight with your hands on the seat of the chair or step, slide one foot forward so that it's flat on the floor. Your other knee
should remain on the floor. Push up from your arms and legs, SLOWLY rising and turning your body so that you are in a sitting position.
Sit for a few minutes before you try to do anything else.
You may think you are not able to follow these steps for getting up after a fall. If so, it may be a good idea to practice getting up as this will improve your confidence and technique. Ask someone to be with you when you practice.
If you have weak muscles or painful and stiff joints in your legs, you should consider getting a personal alarm so that you know help is always available. If you are living at home, make sure that a family member or neighbor has a spare key so that people can get to you quickly.
It is important to tell your doctor, even if this is your first fall. Many underlying causes of falls can be treated and corrected.

PROJECT MEDICINE DROP
Project Medicine Drop is an initiative involving the installation of "prescription drug drop boxes" at participating New Jersey police departments. We are fortunate to have one located at our police department. The police agencies agree to keep the locked metal boxes indoors, affixed to the floor or wall in a secure area within police department headquarters, within view of law enforcement officers, in an area to which members of the public may be admitted to drop off their unused and expired medications.
Their prominent "Project Medicine Drop" logos make the boxes clearly visible and recognizable.
Project Medicine Drop allows the public to dispose of unused and expired prescription medications safely, securely, and anonymously. The opportunity is available seven days a week, 365 days a year.
What Types of Medication May i Dispose Of in the Boxes?
For safety reasons, the Project Medicine Drop boxes can only accept medications such as pills, patches,
inhalers, and similar objects. The boxes cannot accept liquids,
medical waste, or syringes. Consumers wishing to dispose of these should speak with their doctors or pharmacists to find the safest ways to dispose of them.
It should also be noted that consumers may only dispose of legal prescription or over-the-counter medications. Anyone wishing to dispose of any illicit
drug, should follow the normal procedure of reporting it to the police. It is recommended to black out your name and prescription number or remove the label.

5 HEALTH BENEfITS THAT wILL DO YOUR BODY GOODby donna Cardillo, r.N.
1. LOWERING OF BLOOD PRESSURE. Studies have found that individuals who spend sometime in nature rather than city environment ultimately produced lower blood pressure. Well-controlled blood pressure has a positive impact on every organ system within the human body.
2. BOOSTING THE IMMUNESYSTEM AND PREVENTING ILLNESS. Historically, humans spent their time outdoors, but in the day of man made environments, individuals spend more time exposed to viruses and bacteria.Germ infested computer keyboards, door knobs, refrigerator handles, and toilets are now a routine. Stepping outdoors and away from it all, even for a 5 or 10 minute walk, will help you reap some benefits.
3. DECREASING STRESS AND IMPROVING MOOD. Studies have shown that time spent in the sunlight fuels the body with much-needed vitamin D, lowers cortisol levels and can reduce the impact of
depression. Some research suggests 10 minutes a week in the garden can lessen symptoms of depression with fourt o five brief visits in nature each week as optimal.
4. ENHANCING SLEEP AND IMPROVING ENERGY. Time in nature typically results in more physical activity, which is good for your heart and your brain. Exercise tends to lessen cognitive fatigue, improve overall energy, and can lead to a betternight's sleep. Go for a walk on the sidewalk, walk on a trail, go for a hike .
5. PROMOTING SOCIAL HEALTH. Whether you are gardening, interacting with a neighbor, going for a bike ride or hike, nature brings people together creating a deepersense of community. A feeling of belonging to something biggerthan ourselves tends to fuel the sole. Carving out small bits of time to enjoy nature just maybe the free prescription needed to fuel your mind, body, and soul and ultimately be the recipe for a longer and healthier life .

Preventing Dryer fires
Dryers are involved in one out of every 22 home structure fires reported to U.S. fire departments in 2006 and 2010. In 2010 an estimate of 16,800 reported US non-confined or confined home structures fires resulted in 51 civilian deaths, 380 injuries and $236 million in property damage.
How to prevent dryer fires?Clean your lint screen- Always clean your lint screen
right before you push the start button for EVERY LOAD!! Even if there is a small amount of lint, clean it anyway.
Check your vent hose-Make sure your vent hose is in good shape. If you have the white plastic hose, replace it NOW!! It is not safe and has been outlawed. Use the
aluminum type and make sure the length is as short as possible and not crushed or kinked .
Clean your vent regularly-It is very important that the vent line (from the wall behind the dryer to the outside flap) is not restricted or clogged up with lint. This greatly increases your chances of a dryer fire.
Clean out lint from inside the dryer regularly-Your dryer needs to be opened up and vacuumed out periodically. Most dryers today are not easily accessible for the homeowner. You may need a technician to do this.
Make sure your gas line is in good shape-If the line looks old or questionable, you should replace it. Make sure when you push your dryer back into position, you don't kink the line.

NOTICE TO ALL: SNOW CLEARING PROCEDURES AND CLUBHOUSE INFORMATION
are invited to come to the clubhouse to charge cell phones, get warm and have some company while awaiting power to be restored.
Please avoid going out during storms for safety reasons. In the event of a personal emergency requiring Police, Fire or EMS, please contact 9-1-1.
In the event of an emergency of the common elements of the Association, please contact Prime Management emergency line at (609) 693-0090.
Please be safe
rOADWAYs: Snow clearing of roadways within the Pheasant Run community is the responsibility of Barnegat Township. The Association has no control over roadway snow clearing operations.
DriVeWAYs AND WAlKWAYs: In the event 3” or more of snow falls, driveways and walkways will be cleared when:
Snowfall ceases. The Township finishes clearing the roadways. It is MANDATOrY that cars be removed from roadways. Please use your garage or Clubhouse parking lot. The area facing the tennis courts and side lot near courts is the designated area for this purpose. The balance of the parking lot is considered a no parking zone during snow. No parking in front of the clubhouse. Please keep clubhouse entrance area clear.
It is suggested that if you park your car in your driveway during a snow storm, that you park as close to your grass and that you park your car with the front facing the street. By doing this, you will have a wider area to walk down your driveway and will be able to fully open your door without having to step onto the snow/grass.
It is suggested that when you see the snow plow in your driveway that you partially open your garage so the plow blade will be able to get closer to your garage door area and be able to remove more snow.
Please do not ask any of the snow removal team to do anything but your driveway and porch area.
If the snow crew doesn’t arrive during the daylight hours, please leave the front porch light on to make it easier for the crew to clear your porch and driveway.
It is recommended that you use ice melt on shoveled areas to prevent refreezing.
If your neighbor is away and you see damage due to a storm, please report it to the office in the clubhouse.
POWer OUTAge: In the event of a power outage, the Clubhouse is equipped with a generator. Residents

Happy New Year Everyone! As we begin a new year, our FireWise Committee is excited to schedule several events. We will be having another Seminar in early April with more emphasis on landscaping with pavers and stone.
We are hoping to be able to help you find supplies at the lowest price with the best service. We hope to have some plant ideas as well. As always, this will be a free event with refreshments and prizes. Our Annual FireWise Day will be shortly thereafter, again with refreshments and door prizes and a new format that will be very entertaining. Continuing work around the perimeter and possibly an area toward the center of Pheasant Run will begin as soon as weather permits.
Dates will be announced as soon as bids are received and contracts signed. During the winter months fire safety in the home is very important. Please check your smoke alarms and Carbon Monoxide (CO) detectors to be sure they are working properly. Check Christmas lights before storing to make sure they are in good condition. Candles are responsible for a large percentage of house fires during the winter. Never leave a candle burning without supervision.
Our next meeting will be on Friday, January 17th at 10:00 am. For the location, please contact me at 609-660-1544 as the Club House will be closed for renovations.
