and our community in
tangible ways every day.
South County Baptist Church
continues to be a sending
church … equipping and
sending missionaries every
week. This summer, we’ll
send two teams to share the
Gospel and touch lives for
Christ in Gunnison, CO (June
20-28) and in Matamoros,
Mexico (July 25-31). I want
to encourage you to begin
praying now for these teams
as they prepare. Pray also
for those they will encounter
while they are away and for
the Gospel to bear fruit.

Sending mission teams - raising missionaries
As March
arrives,
Southern
Baptists
around the
world are
focusing our
prayers on
the work of
the North American Mission
Board and the Send North
America effort to start hundreds
of new churches in strategic
cities like St. Louis.
In the weeks ahead, we will
hear how God is at work across
our country and in Canada
raising up the next generation
of missions leaders and how the

week, or a month - are a
training ground for God to
develop long-term
missionaries. I am absolutely
confident in saying that if you
were to interview any group
of Southern Baptist
Missionaries and ask where
God began to express His call
on their lives, most would tell
you that it all began on a
mission trip with their church
family. When we send
mission teams, we’re raising
missionaries for the years
ahead.
I’m grateful to be a part of a
‘sending’ church and I’m
honored to be your pastor.
In Christ!

Prayer group for mothers of grown children forming
We are forming a prayer group specifically for Mothers of GROWN Children beginning in March. The times are such that our
kids need more than just their own mothers praying for them individually, but other mothers organizing on their behalf to keep
them in prayer — whether they are having troubles or not.
If you are interested in being a part of a group of prayer warriors praying for each other’s grown kids, please call Sue Bauer
314-575-5265. The group time and place will be announced later depending on interest.

With a jam-packed life, what’s missing is space – space for God to speak, room for you to hear. Most us us are
constantly striving to complete the limitless to-do lists that hinder us from experiencing all that God has for us. We
are in bondage to busyness. It’s time to set aside the activities and busyness that swallows up rest and peace. It’s
time for us to breathe and build margin into our lives for God.

Vision 2020 Building project works to clear “plastic soil” hurdle
Our Vision 2020 Building project encountered a temporary challenge when the soil en-
gineers determined that the dirt upon which the new foundation is to be laid is com-
prised of a significant amount of “plastic soil” — that is, soil which is somewhat
spongey and which has a tendency to expand and contract through the various Mis-
souri weather cycles. The solution is to remove a significant portion of this unsuitable
soil and replace it with “lean” concrete which will provide a solid sub-foundation for our
new buildings.
This work has begun, however the recent frigid conditions have resulted in a pause in
the process. Once the temperatures warm, the workers will be able to resume the
work of laying the foundation and proceeding with construction. It appears that this
will take a few weeks. We are hopeful that the foundation will be completed by late
March and that we will see the exterior walls going up by Easter!
In the meantime, Hooker Construction has added a new temporary emergency exit on the north wall at the bottom of the stair-
way in the lower annex. Like all of the lower exterior doors downstairs, this door is only to be used as an exit in case of emer-
gency, however it does provide a safer exit in the unlikely case that we would need to evacuate the building quickly. These low-
er level doors are all equipped with “crash bars” which allow them to be used as exits while remaining locked from the outside.
