The Peace of Christ Be With You
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you.
Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.
Peace is the work of justice and the effect of
charity. (Catechism of the Catholic Church)
Peace is not simply the absence of conflict. It is the state of being in God’s presence and doing His Will. Christ gives us His peace but He does not say to stop working for justice. To do His Will brings Joy to our hearts. That is the peace for which we strive. That is the peace that brings salvation to us and to our world. To give ourselves in the way that Jesus pours out His love, is a gift from God. We cannot achieve Divine peace without God’s help. As Christ says in today’s Gospel: “Do not be afraid.” When our peace is based on doing the will of God by lov-ing Him and one another then we will experience the Peace that only comes from God.
Pope Benedict has declared this year as “A Year of Faith.” In today’s world we need to strengthen our Faith to see how God’s love overcomes evil and darkness. Please pray for the families listed below. They are parishioners who are praying for us as we pray for them. Keep the Faith!

A PARISH PRAYS THE PSALMS Psalm 16:7-9 “I keep the Lord always before me; with the Lord at my right, I shall never be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad, my soul rejoices; my body also dwells secure.” This was Fr. Heim’s favorite Psalm. This was the psalm he prayed constantly through his suffering, and he believed every word. It gave him joy and peace in the midst of all the pain. We invite you to read the whole psalm. Fr. Heim wants us to know that God is our companion through all that happens in our life, in the good and the bad. The psalms were his prayers to the end and that is why he wanted us to share them with him, so that we might experience the peace and joy they gave him. In the end, this psalm walked with him to heaven! Sto lot Fr. Heim!
A PARISH PRAYS THE PSALMS PROJECT As we gather today to celebrate Fr. Heim on the 1st Anniversary of his death, we are asking you to help bring this project to fruition. If you have done any reflections on the Psalms over the past year, and you are willing to turn them in (in writing), there is a basket in the back of church.
