BETHLEHEM, PA. Marking a major step in the history of Alpha Rho chapter, we have just moved into a new chapter house worth $340,000. Of modern design, it houses 40 Brothers and is the result of several years’ work by our alumni, to whom we are grateful. The house sits on top of Lehigh’s mountain and overlooks the Lehigh Valley.

ATO stands first out of 51 in overall IM sports. We collected runnerup trophies in touch football and basketball.

Among sophomore Taus, Bob Bruno was a starting end on the Varsity football team, John Relyea is a Varsity wrestler, Dale Weiler was a Varsity soccer player and Mike Galardi and Craig Williams are members of the fencing team.

Junior Tau athletes are: Greg Georges, starting defensive end in football team; Carl Painter, high scorer on the soccer team; Tom Burke, golf; Rich Niemeyer and Jim Miller, track, with Jim being the fastest quarter miler in Lehigh’s history; and Bob Surdi and Greg Georges, baseball.

Senior athletes are Glenn Amsbaugh, Varsity wrestler, and Joe Deckman, high scorer on the lacrosse team.

Burt Snyder and Rich Lettieri were tapped for 4>H2 and Rich was chosen outstanding freshman industrial engineer. Dale Weiler is in H2<t> while Jim Miller is a member of Arcadia, the student government; HKN, and Cyanide (junior leadership honorary). Also in Cyanide is Rich Lehman, a member of the Lehigh band of which Bob Markar-ian is manager.

McMINNVILLE, ORE. Homecoming festivities found ATO placing second in the Fraternity Noise Parade.

The chapter has been active with its sister sorority, having firesides, dinners with pledge entertainment, and joint meetings and also providing cheerleaders for the powder puff football game.

ATO is developing plans to build a new house, hopeful of inhabiting the house by the spring of ’68! The new house will be quite unique in that there is to be a common heating plant and kitchen facilities with another campus fraternity. Ground breaking will take place this spring.

BATON ROUGE The pledges started a new chapter tradition by giving Mom Thrash a Happy Housemother Party. In the campus

Homecoming decoration contest ATO won second place.

The big social event of the semester was the Christmas Party. The Five Americans from Dallas provided entertainment and novelty gifts were exchanged among Brothers and pledges. The pledges had dances with the pledges of AAA, KA, and KKr at the beginning of the semester.

Dr. William Lembeck ’48, is the chapter’s new faculty adviser. He teaches biology at the University. Mike McManus was elected to <i>A0, history honorary.

At the NIFC Conference Epsilon Zeta was represented by P.C. Horace Wilkinson, W.M. Jim Andrepont, and W.C. Skip La Roche. Chapter officers also include: Tony Genovese, W.K.A.; Howard Davis, W.S.; and Ken Faherty, W.U.�Tony Genovese

HKN electrical engineering honorary. Dave Lamb was vice commodore of the Sailing Club; Rich Lettieri succeeded Rich Lehman and Jim Miller in Cyanide, junior leadership honorary; Rob Markarian is new band manager; and Rich Lettieri received the AnM Award from the industrial engineering dept.

Among the freshman pledges: Rob Rurton played lacrosse; Fred Rergdoll, Rob Fonte, Roger Sonstroem, and Rill Lynch played football; Chuck Lusk was in the class cabinet. Richard Lettieri

are: Darryl White, Special Projects chairman, SGA Morale Dept.; Skip La-Roche, chairman of SGA University Transportation; Kinnon Thomas, program director of WLSU-radio; and Jack Rarr, IFC public relations chairman.

Last year Don Story was head of the 94th Wing of the AFROTC, which captured the award for the best wing at LSU.

Epsilon Zeta won a pair of trophies at Jam-Jam—Jambolia Jamboree—a school-sponsored social function. We

ship, a new house, and the fall quarter Scholarship Trophy with an all-time-high 2.73 g.p.a.

The combined fall and winter pledge classes won the Pledge Scholarship Trophy and Rich Larson was a winter quar-ter Dean’s List scholar with a perfect 4.0.

ATO won two first-place trophies in Greek Olympics, took second in Greek Sing, and had its candidate crowned Sno Week Queen for the second straight year.

LEHIGH ATO Alumni Assn. Scholarship winner W. Charlton Adams Jr. is earning M.A. in electrical engineering, then wants M.A. in management science. IEEE treas., HKN member, he played Varsity lacrosse.

JAMES HENGSTEN-BERG, Louisiana Tech ’68, is a Who’s Who Tau as W.M., OAK vice president, IFC treasurer, and <!>K<t> member. Although a junior, he earned the right to attend a briefing of AFROTC seniors.

JAMES TUAL was

named “Man of the Year” by the Memphis State IFC for service to ATO as W.C. and W.Sc. and campus as Supreme Court justice and member of OAK and nSE. He plans law study at Tennessee.

Linfield

McMinnville, ore. Zeta Delta came through the second semester with a mark of 2.62, well above the A-MA.

The launching of a building program and development of alumni support for a new house highlight the coming year. Plans call for a 42-man house containing dining facilities—something new on Linfield campus. Response has been excellent to the series of newsletters and visitation weekends.

Dennis Schweitzer, NAIA All-American in football, and Alan “Punk” Wells, both members of the ’66 NAIA Championship baseball team, aided ATO Coach Roy Helser with the ’67 baseball season. Ken Wells was an outfielder— shortstop.

Steele Clayton was elected IFC pres, and Dan Koenig sophomore class pres.

BATON ROUGE Pledges Eric Jensen and Rob Mattei and Rill Olsen, Ruel Robbins, and Mac Mestayer are members of <i>H2. Jim Andrepont was selected as one of the Most Outstanding Seniors in his graduating class. Charles Lard received the Outstanding Senior Award in Marketing. Howard Davis was initiated into nME.

We initiated 26 men on March 4, and then pledged six new men the second semester. ATO ranked fifth in academic standing for fraternities last semester.

Holding school offices this new year

walked off with the award for the best male group at Song Fest, hosted by Doug Jennings.

The Five Americans played for our White Rose Formal where ATO crowned its Sweetheart, Carol Rero.

RUSTON ATO won two academic trophies —IFC Scholarship Trophy and Most Improved Scholarship Trophy—for leading all Greek groups the fall semester with a 2.79 g.p.a.

James Latham and Larry Shorey, having 4.0 and 3.8 averages respectively, were recognized at the Tech Freshman Honor Ranquet and recipients of ATO pledge awards—Latham as the best scholar and the best athlete; Shorey as the best pledge.

Linn Stall received the 2TA Rest Poetry and Rest Writer awards; James Latham was initiated into TBn and presented the Outstanding Freshman Engineer Award.

James Hengstenberg (see photo) was joined as a campus leader by: Don Rarksdale, AK* business fraternity secy.; George Goebel, IFC v.p. and OAK initiate; Lane Johnson, Wesley Foundation pres, and Mitchell Aerospace Society member; James Doty, ACS; and Kenneth Mitchell, Student Union.

Appropriately, ATO moderated the scholarship panel for Greek Week. The Taus were second in Sing Week competition. Rhetta Sensintaffer was honored as ATO’s Sweetheart.�Michael Collins

MANKATO, MINN. “It was a very good year” for the Colony: doubled member-

High-scorer Pete Peuquet led the Taus to second place in IM bowling. Freshman Tom Rums set a school and state record in the high jump.

Rrother Art Linkletter was a guest of the chapter at the new 409 Warren St. house and presented an honorary paddle. He was attending a Jaycee Convention.

MARIETTA, OHIO Dale Keyes won the Province XXIII TAC Award and was honored with the William Ray Irvine Medal, given to the Outstanding Marietta Senior. Dale is also the winner of the LaValle Award for “outstanding work in chemistry.”

Reta Rho’s sweep of spring honors (picture on page 43) is represented by: Song Leader Rasil Munday with All-College Men’s Trophy; Province XXIII TAC winner Dale Keyes; Scholarship Chairman Brian Fowler with IFC Scholastic Improvement Trophy; and Ken Foyder with the A<f>S2 “Ugliest Man on Campus” Trophy.

Paul Adams received an OAK sophomore recognition award. Rill Hahn was elected vice pres, of the Student Rody and will serve as business manager of the Marcolian, the student newspaper.

James Williams was elected junior class treas. Robert Ayling was elected pres, of A<M2 service fraternity. Rrent McCurdy will serve as business mgr. of the yearbook, The Mariettana.

Helpmaster Steve White had Rrothers and pledges working together, building a fine charcoal pit, removing unwanted trees, cleaning up land around the house, and graveling the back yard for the coming year.�Rex Ennis
