Last week, I once again viewed the latest adaptation of Victor Hugo’s classic novel, Les Miserables. Hugo clearly demonstrates meaning and purpose through the friendship of Jean Valjean and the Monsignor. You recall that the Monsignor offers lodging to the wayward Valjean, and Valjean repays his hospitality by stealing valuable silver. The police arrest and return Valjean to face the priest. Certain that he will be going to prison, Valjean is instead stunned by the actions of the Monsignor: not only does he confirm the silver was Valjean’s, but he extravagantly proceeded to give him the candlesticks that Valjean inadvertently forgot to take! While the silver and candlesticks were valuable to the Monsignor, they were of even greater value to Valjean. By giving away the items, the Monsignor provided life and hope to one who was without either. As we enter the Stewardship season at OUUMC, I invite you to be mindful of the blessings of being a part of this community of faith! As mentioned in the last newsletter, Stewardship Sunday is November 17, and while that may seem to be a long way off, we know it will be here sooner than we think. Please prayerfully consider the many ways you can provide life and hope to others. Gratefully, Russ McLellan Church Administrator

Bricks for

Building the future one brick at a time.

Camp Lake Stephens has made an impact in the lives of campers since 1946. Each brick purchased helps make needed improvements to the camp, ensuring that CLS will continue to make a difference for years to come. Your support of CLS in the form of a brick will be a permanent reminder of your partnership and involvement with the camp. The bricks will be placed in the new patio by the Administrative Building.

When you buy a brick, you not only make a gift to the camp, but you also create a lasting tribute for you and your family, friend, former counselor, camper or anyone you choose. You can add a brick with your own special message to show your sup-port of Camp Lake Stephens, to commemorate an accomplishment, or to celebrate a milestone or achievement.

Bricks can also be given in honor or in memory of someone else, and the camp will send an acknowledgement to the person or to the family for whom the brick is given.

Order forms are available in the church office. 4x8 inch bricks costs $100, and 8x8 inch bricks cost $150.

Buy a brick today!
