STAGEDOOR HOURS The stage door hours are set by the Executive Assistant in consultation with the Visiting Company. It is requested that the Visiting Company provide a schedule in advance for the coming week. If there is no performance or work in the theatre the stagedoor will remain closed. TELEPHONES / INTERNET Telephones can be installed in all company offices, most dressing rooms and the orchestra level of the auditorium. Contact the Executive Assistant to make all telephone arrangements. There is a weekly fee of $50.00 per telephone. Wired and Wireless internet access is available in the basement level, auditorium and stage level of the theatre. There is a weekly fee of $75.00 for internet access. CONCESSIONS All Front of House food and beverage services are provided by an exclusive Vendor. All Backstage Beer, Wine and Spirits must be provided by our concessionaire. MERCHANDISE Lobby Space is available for Merchandise Sales. Storage for all merchandise is available in the basement of the Theatre in a lockable space. THEATRICAL PERFORMANCES The Company Merchandiser is responsible for hiring its own sales team. The Opera House reserves the right to verify inventory on a weekly basis and will collect a commission on all merchandise sold. Merchandise commission will be negotiated at the time of contract in advance of the show’s arrival. The merchandiser is responsible for collecting and paying Massachusetts sales tax. The tax rate is 5% on all non-clothing items. NON THEATRICAL PERFORMANCES For all Non-Theatrical Performances EMI is the exclusive vendor of Tour Merchandise. BOX OFFICE INFORMATION The box office is generally open Monday through Saturday from 10am – 6pm. During performances or performance Weeks, the box office remains open until ½ after the evening curtain. Sundays the box office opens at 12 noon and closes at 6pm or ½ after curtain, whichever is later. In the event that there is an early Matinee the box office will open earlier. DIRECTIONS TO THE OPERA HOUSE (By Automobile or Public Transportation) The OPERA HOUSE is located in downtown Boston. The theatre is conveniently located on three major subway routes, and is surrounded by numerous parking lots and indoor parking garages.

FROM THE NORTH: Take 93 South to exit 22 (the South Station / Chinatown Exit). At the first set of lights, take a right onto Kneeland Street. Follow Kneeland for four sets of lights. At the fourth set, take a right onto Washington Street. The theatre is 2 ½ blocks up on the left hand side.

FROM THE SOUTH: Take 93 north to exit 20A (the South Station / Chinatown Exit - DO NOT take

Exit 20 to Logan Airport). At the first set of lights, take a left onto Kneeland Street. Follow Kneeland for four sets of lights. At the fourth set, take a right onto Washington Street. The theatre is 2 ½ blocks up on the left hand side.

FROM THE WEST: Take the Mass Pike (90 East). Follow signs for the Prudential Center Copley Square

(exit #22), staying to the right for Copley Square. The exit merges above ground with Stuart Street. Continue traveling straight on Stuart Street for five sets of lights. At the fifth set of lights, take a left onto Charles Street. Take the next right onto Boylston Street. Go through two sets of lights. At second set, take a left onto Washington Street. The theatre is 1 ½ blocks up on the left hand side.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: Take the Green line to the “Boylston Stop.” You will come out at the

corner of Tremont and Boylston Streets. Walk eastward on Boylston, away from the Boston Common for one block. Turn left onto Washington Street. The theatre is 1 ½ blocks on your left.

- or - Take the Orange line to the “Chinatown” Stop. You will come out onto Washington Street. Turn north bound toward Downtown Crossing and walk 1 ½ blocks. The theatre is 1 ½ blocks up on the left hand side.

OPERA HOUSE BUILDING GUIDLINES All activities must comply with the State of Massachusetts and City of Boston Fire Codes and Building

Regulations. (See Pages 10 – 11)

All Boston Fire Department submissions must be processed through the Opera House Production Department.

Boston Board of Fire Prevention requires an “audible announcement” prior to each “non-continuous

program”. This announcement “shall be made not more than ten minutes prior to the start of each program to notify occupants of the locations of the exits to be used in case of a fire or other emergency.”

All fire exits, doors, aisles and alleys must be kept clear and properly lit at all times.

Smoking is prohibited in all public buildings. (See page 12).

All signs, displays and other material are subject to the approval of the theatre manager.

Parking of any vehicle on Mason Street is prohibited. In addition, there is no parking permitted at the

Loading dock.

Access to the Box Office is prohibited without the permission of the box office manager.

All company, cast and crew must enter and exit via the stage door. A guest list must be provided for guest access to the backstage area.

REGULATION INFORMATION

Draperies and Decorative Materials The Boston Fire Department requires a sample of all Draperies and Decorative materials (drapes, scrims, cycs, confetti, riser skirting, banners, dressing room furnishings, decorations, wall hangings, props, etc.) intended for installation in any public assembly facility in the City of Boston. This sample must be submitted to the Boston Fire Department for testing prior to the issuance of a usage permit. Fire retardant/flameproof certificates from other states (including CA, and NY) will not be accepted as a substitute for testing by the Boston Fire Department. All Samples must meet or exceed NFPA 701 and BFD IX - I. There are no exceptions to this requirement. Failure to receive usage permits will result in the inability to install these Materials. In order to comply with this regulation, a one foot square (1’ x 1’) sample from each item is required to be submitted along with the application and a copy of the manufactures fireproofing certificate. The certificate is only used for means of identifying the sample. If you are submitting confetti or streamers you must provide a medium size baggie of the product for testing. Applications and samples are due no later than two weeks prior to the performance date. The Opera House production department will submit the application along with your sample(s) to the Boston Fire Department. We are not responsible for samples received after the two-week deadline or those which do not meet or exceed NFPA 701 and BFD IX-I. We understand the difficulties this may cause, but non-compliance is not an option. Please include the name of the production and the performance date with the samples. Theatrical Haze Use of hazers or theatrical producing smoke requires permitting by the Boston Fire Department. Application F.P.D 19 – Application for General Permit is required to be filed 2 weeks prior to the performance/event along with the Material Safety Data Sheet for the Fluid utilized by your hazer. You must provide the make and model number of the device you intend to use, and the name and quantity of the chemical used to produce this effect.

Smoking Effects / Open Flames On-Stage

Onstage Smoking by Actors or Open Flames used during a performance requires permitting by the Boston Fire Department. Application F.P.D 19 – Application for General Permit is required to be filed 2 weeks prior to your performance along with a summary of the effect and information as to when during the performance this effect is utilized.

Gunshots Onstage use of Firearms requires permitting by the Boston Fire Department. Application F.P.D 19 – Application for General Permit is required to be filed 2 weeks prior to the performance along with a summary of the effect and information as to when during the performance this effect is utilized. In addition Massachusetts General Law Chapter 140: Section 131F ½: Theatrical productions; carrying firearms and blank ammunition require the following; “Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (a) of section ten of chapter two hundred and sixty-nine of the General Laws or any other law to the contrary, the carrying or possession of a firearm and blank ammunition therefore, during the course of any television, movie, stage or other similar theatrical production, by a person within such production, shall be authorized; provided, however, that such carrying or possession of such firearm shall be under the immediate supervision of a person licensed to carry firearms. “ An individual properly licensed for such activity will be added to the performance call and billed as a variable expense.”

REGULATION INFORMATION

FIREWORKS / PYRO

The use of any fireworks, pyrotechnics or special effects is regulated by the State Fire Marshall’s Office and Boston Fire Department. Such activity requires a Fireworks/Special Effects User’s Certificate along with a posted bond in the amount of $15,000.00 in addition to a State of Massachusetts Licensed Special Effects Operator.

If any such effects are to be used in a production presented at the Opera House a Massachusetts Licensed Special Effects Operator will be required. This individual will be hired through IATSE Local 11 unless you have on staff a Massachusetts Licensed Special Effects Operator. If this individual is provided by IATSE Local 11 all applicable rates will apply based on the current Collective Bargaining agreement. Information Requirements

permission to perform such effects during the performance in Boston. D. Official Business Name of the Producing Entity E. Certificate of Insurance – Additional Insured to read as follows;
