ECKANKAR is a worldwide religion known to many as an ancient teaching. The ECK, or the Holy Spirit, works on our own behalf to expand our consciousness and help us see God in our everyday lives. Harold Klemp, the Mahanta, the Living ECK Master, is the leader of ECKANKAR.

Soul’s Dance

The following is from an interview with Harold Klemp, the spiritual leader of ECKANKAR. The year was 1993, in Sydney, Australia. The topic is about the Golden Age. “I had a lucid dream where I was dancing through the ethers with thousands of Souls, all being drawn to a central point. I was full of joy, knowing that no matter what we do in this world, we are always going to be drawn back to this central point.” “A very spiritual dream. It’s the dance of Soul for God. The joy is in meeting the true Master and having the true of love of God. “I have seen people come to an Eckankar seminar and begin crying for no reason. Inwardly,

as Soul, they have heard the Voice of God. And God has said, ‘I love you because you are a part of me, and I am calling you home.’

“It’s a personal experience so strong that it changes that person’s life. At that point he is no longer the same. Few of his friends and acquaintances can understand what major turning point occurred to him at that moment. It’s just beyond words. But it is life changing. “Sometimes the love is so strong, it’s really incredible. It fills you with joy. It cleanses the heart, it purifies it, and it gives the person a readiness to

accept more of God’s love. “This is the secret of the inner teachings.”

The Sound of Soul Event

For a simple spiritual exercise, you are warmly welcomed to the Sound of Soul event every first Saturday of the month at 11 a.m. at the San Jose ECK Center. The second Sound of Soul event is Saturday, September 15, at 2 p.m. Please note: this Sound of Soul event is at the Community of Infinite Spirit, 1540 Hicks Ave., San Jose. “All that we do with the word HU is to sing it with reverence. It represents the love of God for Soul, and we are Soul.’” (Harold Klemp, HU, the Most Beautiful Prayer, p. 7).

ECK Light and Sound Service

The theme for this month’s ECK Light and Sound Service centers on the theme, “Dancing to the Rhythm of Life.” Lee Opengart will be officiating. Key to the teachings of ECKANKAR is the HU, which will be sung at the beginning of the Service The ECK Light and Sound Service is unique because during small group discussion, you can join in or simply listen. The ECK Light and Sound Service is for people of all backgrounds and experiences. “God’s love shows itself through letting each person find the path to God that is right for that individual.” (Harold Klemp, How to Survive Spiritually in Our Times, Mahanta Transcripts, Book 16, p. 225.)

Healing Arts Fair

Please come join the spiritual community at the Healing Arts Fair, hosted by the Community of Infinite Spirit. ECKANKAR’s booth is number 14. The event takes place Saturday and Sunday, September 22 and 23, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. ECKANKAR members are giving a talk at 1 p.m. on Saturday. All are welcome to find out more about ECK, or Holy Spirit.

An Exercise to Try

Bathing in the Light

“If you have a problem or desire a healing, try this exercise before falling asleep. “Catch yourself at that point just before you fall asleep—between waking and sleep. Imagine bathing yourself with healing orange light. “You then can ask the Inner Master to help you regain spiritual balance by saying, ‘If it’s for the good of all concerned and doesn’t interfere with my spiritual growth, would you please heal me?’ Then holding that thought, drift into a sound sleep.”

Finding the San Jose ECK Center

We are across Moorpark from Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, just west of Bascom Avenue. There is a small parking lot behind our

building; street parking is available on Moorpark and along the I-280 sound wall on Central Way, just one short block north of the Center;

and Valley Med has a free parking structure across the street.

By Car From the north, drive south on Bascom Avenue, cross over I-280 and

turn right onto Moorpark at the next traffic light.

From the south, drive north on Bascom, drive past Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, then turn left onto Moorpark at the traffic light. Note:

Moorpark Avenue becomes one-way east of Bascom, forcing you toward southbound 280. To drive around San Jose City College and get back to the ECK Center: turn right on Leigh, right on Fruitdale, right on

Bascom, and left on Moorpark.

Eckankar—The Path of Spiritual Freedom

Eckankar teaches that there is an audible life current known as the ECK, or Holy Spirit, that connects each of us with the heart of God. We can experience the ECK as Light and Sound.
