• Takeover by a stronger country of a country or territory to dominate the political, economical, and social life of the people living there.

• Darwin’s theory of evolution applied to humans

• Led to the belief that some were biologically inferior than others.

• Used this to justify imperialism

• Poverty, with many new nations in debt

• Colonies rebelling for independence

• Unstable->Lack of political, economic power

• Mix of cultures and races (mulatos)

Conclusion

• Imperialism made a huge impact on the world, not only Latin America, but the Asia and more.
