recently went on a much needed vacation to St. Thomas

VI. Why St. Thomas since the Island is rebuilding from

hurricanes Irma and Maria less than a year ago, with the

presence of FEMA, some blue tarped roofs, and little

cellphone service? My daughter has a 6 month internship at

Coral World. Sea lion training. I was up close and personal

with Sea Lions. I swam in beautiful beaches with: warm, calm,

blue-green waters filled with tropical fish, sea turtles, and

yachts.

I rented a vehicle, not a Mustang, and drove on the

left side of the very hilly, bendy, curvy, pot holed, and

unlined, roads containing no speed limits too. At intersections

I made left on reds and very wide right hand turns into the left

lane. By the time I was comfortable driving the Island roads it

was back to NJ, with right on red, jug handles, and driving on

the right side. I did see two daily driver Mustangs in the 9

days I was there.

I also saw a building with the Blue Oval Ford sign

and had to pull in. So, I met the Sales Manager, Jeff Howard,

at Metro Motors (No, I didn't buy a Mustang) we exchanged

emails, and found out St. Thomas has a Mustang Club. He

emailed me some Mustang photos belonging to some of the

members. So, I am relocating Joke-Joke. The manager said

they mostly sell SUVs and Pick-up trucks. I was there the last

day of the month and they were busy. I was curious as to how

he was affected by the hurricanes. He said he lost three

buildings and rebuilt the sales office and service department

since then. We are still corresponding through emails.

July 4, 2018 was a busy day with back to back

parades in Maywood and Ridgefield Park. Thank you to all the

members that took part and brought out their Mustangs. The

club receives monies for your participation. Many thanks to

Rich and Sharon Peterson for their hospitality in hosting the

after parades BBQ at their home.

Richie Peterson also organized a club car cruise, on a

Saturday night, at Whiskey Cafe, which unfortunately was

rained out. The next Saturday night it was organized again and

11 club members attended that car cruise, at Whiskey Cafe.

John Clor, Enthusiast

Communications Manager for

Ford Performance, will be giving

a power point presentation at our

next membership meeting,

on Wednesday, July18, 2018.

Those of you who have not had

the pleasure of listening to John

Clor’s informative talks should

make every effort to attend. If

you want to purchase John Clor's book titled, “Ford Mustang

2015: The New Generation” either by Amazon, Barnes &

Noble, or at the meeting from John Clor, he will be available

for signing / autographs / pictures.

Always, check out the Newsletter, Website and

Facebook pages for planned club activities and cruise nights

postings throughout July, and August.

Save These Dates and please sign up!!!

July 21st Park & Pitch For Parkinson's : Car show &

Sussex County Miners Game, see attached flyer in this

newsletter. This is a charity club event for “The Michael J.

Fox Foundation For Parkinson's Research”. Volunteers needed

to help park vehicles would be greatly appreciated. Look for a

sign up sheet at July's meeting. If you participate you get: to

see super hero’s walk around, two admission tickets to see the

game, and fireworks display after the game.

August 23th MDA CAMP, the GSRMC members

volunteer some time every year and bring their Mustangs to

the MDA Summer Camp, in Hardwick, NJ. This is a feel

good, rewarding, heartfelt outing with the campers. Look for

details in this newsletter. Look for a sign up sheet at July's

meeting.

August 26th , Sunday, for the annual GSRMC club

picnic. Same place as previous years Picatinny Arsenal BBQ

Pavilion picnic area. Always a good time. Hamburgers,

hotdogs, condiments, coffee and desserts are supplied. We do

ask if you can bring a side dish to share, and soft drinks for

yourself not to share. You might want to include lawn chairs

and a table covering. As always we attempt to get a nice club

picture of members and their cars in a formation. Please look

for the sign up sheet at the July meeting for a member count of

attendees, or call Jim Signorelli to RSVP.

This month's membership meeting

on Wednesday, July 18, 2018. See you then.

MDA SUMMER

CAMP VISIT

s you may know, we have been displaying cars

at the annual MDA summer camp for many years.

This year, it is on Thursday, August 23rd

. The camp is

located at “Happiness is Camping”. It is located at 62

Sunset Lake Road, Hardwick, NJ 07825. The MDA is

inviting us to greet the campers after their rest period at

1:45pm.

This is always a popular and rewarding event for

both the kids at the camp and the GSRMC members who

attend. Even though we have been helping out the MDA

with financial donations for over 15 years, it is this

opportunity to connect with the kids afflicted with the

diseases that really brings the importance of what we are

doing into perspective. The few hours at the camp can be

both a sad and uplifting experience. We hope that you

will consider making the trip to the camp. The MDA

requires the completion of a Waiver/Release/Consent

form by each visitor, which we will hand to them as we

arrive, and they will shred upon the completion of our

visit.

We will be meeting again like last year at the

food court of the Rockaway Center Mall. If we leave the

mall at 1:00 PM, we will have plenty of time to get to

the camp. There are still some details to be finalized, so

look for more info at the July meeting and/or in the next

newsletter. You can also contact Jim Signorelli at 201-

845-7014 or [email protected].

JULY CLUB CRUISE NIGHT

ur July GSRMC Club Cruise Night takes us to the

Hunterdon County borough of Flemington. The

Main St. cruise night there is booming and we will be

going on Mustang & T-Bird night. John & Linda

Dunsmuir have offered their house (7 Mason Farm Rd.

Flemington) as a meeting/staging area for the then short

trip to the cruise. We will be meeting there at 4 pm on

July 28th. For those of you who wish to meet us at the

cruise, we are going to try to park in the lot behind the

Red Vanilla store. It is open to all years, so head on

down to fabulous Flemington and join us.

For more info or

directions, contact:

John D. - [email protected]

Dale F - [email protected]

PRESENTING JOHN CLOR

he guest speaker at the July 18th meeting will be

John Clor from Ford Performance. Many of you

might know John from either the Carlisle Ford Nationals

or the Philadelphia Auto Show Preview events the club

has attended. John’s position at Ford allows him access

to historical archives that he then shares with enthusiasts

like us. He never seems to give the same presentation

twice. Perhaps the best part of his presentations is the Q

& A finale where you can learn some things you

probably aren’t supposed to know…yet.

John is also the author of several Mustang/Ford

books that he will gladly sign for you at the meeting. He

is driving down from Detroit in the Ford Performance

van that may have some goodies he can share with us as

well. This is definitely a don’t miss meeting.

SKYLANDS STADIUM SUSSEX

MINERS SHOW & GAME

kylands stadium, in conjunction with the Michael J.

Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, has asked

us to help out again this year at the 2nd

Annual Park &

Pitch for Parkinson’s car show at the stadium on July

21st. The show starts at Noon and finishes up at 4:30

pm, just in time for the start of the 6:05 Miners game

against the NJ Jackals.

The show is open to all years, makes & models

of vehicles so spread the word. Ten cars will receive a

trophy and the show winning vehicles will get to drive

around the warning track inside the stadium. The

registration fee includes 2 tickets to that afternoon’s

game. New this year will be Fireworks after the game.

If you can lend a hand with parking, please sign up at a

meeting or contact Bill C. - [email protected]

2018 GSRMC CLUB PHOTO

Our annual club photo will be taken at the club picnic

on August 26th this year. Usually the photo is taken

between 12 -1 pm. All members are encouraged to

bring their Mustang or special interest FoMoCo

vehicle to the picnic for the photo. Those who

participate will be given a commemorative copy of the

photo. The photo will also be used on the club website

and for various club advertising and promotional

purposes so we really would like to have a good

showing of all years and models of cars in the club.
