Major Organs.

Brain-The brain is a wrinkled soft organ that is 3 pounds in weight is approximately 100 billion neurons form the body’s control center. The brain controls everything in your body. Spinal Cord- The spinal cord is a long thin mass of neurons to carry information in the vertebral cavity of the spine. The spinal cord starts underneath of your brain and goes down to your lumbar region (Lower Torso). The white material of the spinal cord functions as the conduit of nerve signals.

Major Organs pt2

Nerves- are bundles of axons, in the nervous system. They act as information highways, to carry signals come from the brain to the spinal cord then to the rest of your body.Sense Organs- All of our sense organs are a part of our nervous system. Your eyes, taste buds, nose, ear drums, and skin are all connected.

Connection To Other Systems

The nervous system interacts with all of the bodies systems. It interacts with all organs and all of our senses. For example it works with the digestive system, the nerves in those organs work with the brain to make them work and send signals.

It also works with the muscular system, the nerves again send signals from the brain to the muscles and it makes the muscles contract and therefore they work.

Levels of Organization in Humans.

Organ: BrainThe brain is made up into 8 sections; The cerebrum, the frontal lobe, the perietal lobe, the occipital lobe, cerebellum, temporal lobe, and the brain stem which connects the brain to the spinal cord. This makes up the brain and they are all made up of nervous tissue. But in the brain the tissue is made up of Astrocytes cells. Different cells make up different parts of our nervous system.

How do these organs work together?

The nervous system is made up of your brain , spinal cord and a huge amount of nerves throughout our entire body . It acts like a control center telling our body how to react to things.

How do These Organs Work Together pt2

The brain is the “hub” of the nervous system. It sends signals down our spinal cord, and out to all of our limbs, senses, and organs. Electrical pulses through the nerves in our body are what makes us move, and sense and lets our organs work. From the brain to our spinal cord, to our nerves, to our limbs senses and organs, and back through all of it to our brain.

Common Diseases.

Epilepsy, Alzheimer's decease, and many more are all functional deceases. Epilepsy, a disorder made by recurrent episodes of disturbance, consciousness lost, convulsions with abnormal electrical shocks in the brain.

Common Diseases pt2.

Alzheimer’s is forgetfulness in the brain, usually starts in your late 40’s or 50’s. There is no cure to Alzheimer’s but scientists are still working on a cure. It can come to you from genetics or smoking and drug use. It is not a normal part of aging.

The nervous systems role.

The nervous system allows our body to respond to the world around us. Our body functions like breathing and moving our body.Even though the brain in the control centre, the brain’s job would not be possible without the help of the spinal cord.

5 facts about the nervous system

- Did you know there are more nerve cells in the brain than there are stars in the Milky Way.- As we get older the brain loses almost one gram per year.- there are about 13 500 neurons in the human spinal cord.-If you lined up all the neurons in of body it would be around 600 miles long.-The diameter of a neuron ranges between 4 to 100 microns.

Two professions that work in this system

Neurologist’s work with medicines to cure deseases in th nervous system. They work at high quality hospitals and can research in universities.

Two professions that work in this system Pt 2

Neuroscientist studies everything there is to know about the brain. If you had this job you would most likely work in University research or government research.

How to maintain a healthy nervous system

• Drinking water keeps your nervous system healthy because your brain is 85% water.

• Your brain needs stuff like calcium and potassium which can be found in fruit , veggies and milk.

• Another thing is that exercise is good for your brain too.
