This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 822601
NADINE concept
NADINE project aim is to develop novel ways of integrating
migrants and refugees through ICT-enabled solutions that will
automatically adapt to the specificities of each person.
The most crucial enabler to promote inclusion of migrants
host societies, is their ability to work.
MIGRATION-06 projects conference
NADINE Tools
NADINE project will create an adaptable platform able to: 1)
Provide functionalities for skill assessment (both hard and soft), 2) dynamically create tailored
suited training programs to adapt existing skills into host societies needed skills (skills shifting), 3) provide
a digital companion that will suggest and assist the
end-users through administrative tasks and 4) create a data lake available to public administration bodies for better
organization.MIGRATION-06 projects conference
Technical novelties and challenges
NADINE will be equipped with methods
for collecting all the required migrant
data and it will be supported by
intelligent decision support tools,
required to identify the optimal
integration procedure.

Architecture
MIGRATION-06 projects conference
User requirements▸Define in details the
project requirements, based on end-user functional specifications.
▸In order to achieve this we have to:
MIGRATION-06 projects conference
‣ generate a detailed definition of user requirements collected from the end users
‣ undertake a state of the art analysis of tools being used and to generate a clear gap analysis
‣ define the technical requirements carried out by the technical partners
Desk research on skill assessment methodology
▸Develop a concrete skills' assessment procedure and standardized tests to enable migrant skills’ profiling and facilitate implementing relevant targeted, large-scale and systematic procedures for skills assessment and qualification recognition.
▸ In order to achieve this we have to work on:
MIGRATION-06 projects conference
‣ the description and evaluation of existing skills’ assessment procedures
‣ the identification and elaboration of a general framework including significant universal soft skills
‣ the scientific content development of skills’ assessment psychometric means, tools and procedures
Skill assessment▸Creation of intelligent
objective automated skill assessment algorithms that will also take into account the subjectively collected information (e.g. questionnaires, interviews).
▸In order to achieve this we have to work on:
MIGRATION-06 projects conference
‣ the creation of ICT tools for migrant data collection
‣ the development of serious games for assessing the migrant’s skills
‣ the implementation of intelligent neural network algorithms for skill assessment.
Decision support system▸Association between the migrant
skill and social needs with the host city labour requirements and social services in order to achieve the optimal migrant integration. The key objectives are:
‣ to classify and catalog the migrants based on their special social and personal needs
MIGRATION-06 projects conference
‣ to cluster the Infrastructure and Facilities of the host locations‣ to cluster the migrants based on their skills and competences‣ to provide recommendations to migrants and local authorities
regarding the optimal training programs, the facilities and infrastructures requirements as well as information for supporting local authorities and policy makers in planning and decision making.
Training tools
▸Creation of training/learning modules for the migrants
▸This will be achieved by:
‣ creating a semi-automatic e-portfolio that will store all the
MIGRATION-06 projects conference
migrant information related to skills and training issues.
‣ providing a learning/training module able to embed various training material adapted both to migrants and hosts needs.
‣ supporting collaborative learning.
‣ providing specialized services for skill customization.
Social and career Information
▸Provide information support to the migrants.
▸This is achieved in three ways:
1. career related information (static)
2. social related information (static)
3. administration related information (interactive)
MIGRATION-06 projects conference
System integration
▸Integrate all the aforementioned technologies into a platform
▸In order to do so we have to:
‣ Progressively build the final platform with input coming from all technical and pilot WPs.
MIGRATION-06 projects conference
‣ Integrate the individual software and platform components developed in technical work-packages
‣ Validate and prove the whole system
‣ Establish of effective communications
System testing
▸Run and evaluate NADINE platform through real life pilots.
▸In order to do so we have to:‣ Plan all the pilots.‣ Execute all the three phases of pilots
(Driver, Assisted and Real life)‣ Evaluate NADINE platform
performance after the end of each iteration of the pilots.
MIGRATION-06 projects conference
Pilots
▸The initial inception phase ensured that a sound methodology and strategy is put in place across each of the three pilot phases.
▸Provision of the overall design and timing for the pilots.
▸Insights into the locations selected for the target groups
▸Planned methodology and tools for the evaluation of the pilots.
MIGRATION-06 projects conference
Project results dissemination and exploitation▸Dissemination and exploitation of
the project results and engagement of stakeholder communities, in order to attract general public’s attention to project activities.
▸In order to do so we have to:
MIGRATION-06 projects conference
‣ develop and implement a tailored dissemination plan for the project‣ raise public awareness throughout effective dissemination actions‣ guarantee broad dissemination of the project results to the relevant
stakeholders‣ set-up and maintain an ambitious exploitation plan‣ build up the NADINE community, involving relevant stakeholders and
end-users
