The Purpose:
Fishkill Elementary is a 19 section school building.
This means they can support 5 grade levels at 3 sections per grade, and 2 grade levels at 2 sections per grade in any given school year.
Section Count By Grade Level (2017-18)
Grade K 1 2 3 4 5 6
Sections 3 3 3 3 3 2 2

The Proposal
Consider the redistricting of specific Fishkill
Elementary Communities into the Myers Corners
boundary.
Utilize a ‘Grandfather’ approach so as not to
disrupt existing students / households (including
siblings who have not aged in (determined on a
case by case basis).
Only new students (not considered grandfathered)
will be registered in the new boundary.
Grandfathered Boundary Changes:
Baxtertown Rd Community:
Currently a Fishkill ES community boundary, this community is located on the west side of Route 9 about a mile north of main street in Fishkill.
Currently there are 23 students who attend Fishkill ES from this community, 5 of whom are enrolled in Grade K.
Grandfathered Boundary Changes:
Round Hill Community:
Currently a Fishkill ES community boundary, this community is located off of Baxtertown Rd.
Currently there are 54 students who attend Fishkill ES from this community, 6 of whom are enrolled in Grade K.
Grandfathered Boundary Changes:
Osbourne Hill Rd Community Part 1:
Currently a Fishkill ES community boundary, this community is located on the west side of Route 9 between Baxtertown Rd in Fishkill and Smithtown Rd in Wappingers Falls.
Grandfathered Boundary Changes:
Osbourne Hill Rd Community Part 2:
Currently there are 39 students who attend Fishkill ES from this community, 4 of whom are enrolled in Grade K.

Potential Impact on Transportation
• Increased overall mileage per year until end of
“grandfathering”.
• Approximately 45 miles per day (includes AM &
PM)
• Potentially one additional bus will need to be added
to the Myers Corners routes for both AM / PM runs.
• Currently MC has 16 large vehicles
• Smaller vehicles will be used whenever possible.
• Any new bus routes will still adhere to School Bus
Scheduling and Routing Regulation (8411-R) which
limits ride times to be no longer than 45 minutes.
