The mission of the church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Defining Disciple:A “disciple” is a person who through faith in Jesus Christ believes the gospel and seeks to center their life on the teachings of Jesus. A disciple is obedient to the scriptures, has a vibrant prayer life, attends worship regularly, practices personal evangelism, loves their neighbor as themselves and lives a generous life.

Defining Disciple:A disciple cares about the needs of all people in the world and seeks to be the hands and feet of Christ as part of God’s transforming plan for the world. A Disciple is a person growing in grace and in the knowledge of God. A disciple is quick to forgive; quick to repent, and practices gospel centered hospitality and humility.

Our prescription:DISCIPLESHIP PATHWAY: …Create a clear discipleship path for moving people from where they are on their spiritual journey to becoming fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. The discipleship path will be designed for everyone, whether a non-believer or one who is maturing in their faith. This discipleship path will represent a lifelong process.

This will be a faith development plan within a Wesleyan model that encourages all persons:• To connect and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ; • To be transformed by studying the Bible and the principles of the Christian faith;• To connect with other believers for support and accountability; • To be in service to others for the

purpose of God’s mission.

What is the discipleship assessment?• A resource provided to encourage

you in your ongoing spiritual growth and development

• It is intended to develop awareness of where you are in your spiritual journey

How do you use this?• This Assessment reads from left to right

under the headings from the Discipleship Pathway

• The first box on the left is Worships God with passion. You then read across each box and choose the one that best describes you and check it with the pencil provided.

• Once you have completed all four sections, look for a pattern in the columns? Which column has the most check marks?

• Take a look at the Discipleship Pathway for the church to see what you can get involved with to grow spiritually.

• Take this information home and pray for God’s wisdom and direction for your spiritual growth

Now what?• Please fill out the white slip with your Discipleship

Category by circling the appropriate category. This is an anonymous, information-gathering tool for us to know where our work begins.

• Next, you can look at the blue sheet with the classes that will begin September 7. If you have questions and would like more information on classes and activities, call Sue Tull at 319-377-4856 or simply check on the yellow insert.
