Dear Saints,

You all are being good sports for participating in our

summertime worship hours of 9:30am Contemporary service

and 11:00 am Traditional service. The Worship Committee will

be presenting a recommendation to the Session in July about what

we will do going forward. Though we have only been involved

with the experiment since the beginning of June, it has been

interesting to see who comes when. Again thanks for your willingness to try

something new and see how it does.

It has also been fun to see all the folks gathering in the Christian Education hallway

for “Beverages and Bites”. This was another experiment for the summer to see if we

could offer Muffins for Moms, Donuts for Dads and goodies every Sunday after the

first service and before the second service. We have not had to cool down the

Fellowship Hall during the heat of summer or run in-between raindrops. Thanks for

being a part of our time to talk, catch up and have some “Beverages and Bites”!

The Evangelism Committee is planning the next Membership Matters classes to

be Sundays, July 16 and 23 after the 11:00 am service. A lite lunch will be served as

we get to know each other better, learn what it means to be a part of the Presbyterian

Church USA, what are our spiritual gifts and then officially join the church. We invite

anyone interested in learning more about Holy Trinity and wanting to explore joining

the church to come and be a part of our two sessions of Membership Matters classes.

For more information or register for the two sessions and lunch, please call the church

office at 567-2246.

Thanks for all the well wishes, birthday cards and presents that I received in the

last month to remind me I have gotten another year older. Actually, I have discovered

that I welcome each and every year that I get older. I am grateful for your continual

prayers for me to stay in good health. In June, I had a follow up visit with my doctor

in Pittsburgh and he says things look good. I am grateful for the good news and

especially for all the support and care I receive from my Holy Trinity family. I know

that this is a church that takes its mission of caring for others seriously. Many thanks!

Though folks may be in and out throughout the summer, we will be holding each

other in prayer. On occasion during my devotional time, I will take the church

directory and pray for each person listed. It helps me to be reminded of each of you

and how things are going in your lives. Please know that even when you are away

from Holy Trinity, we are not away from you. You may think you can run but you

cannot hide. We take our relationship with each other seriously. Our Deacons and

Care Angels will try to keep in touch with their flocks throughout the summer. When

they call please let us know how you are doing. Have a great summer!

The Finance Committee

“Let our Light Shine” – Our Shine the Light Fund was so well received and supported that no funds were needed

from our capital improvement account. Actually, we received more money than was needed to cover all expenses so

the excess of $2,208 was transferred to our capital improvement fund. Therefore, the Shine the Light Fund is

completed and closed. Great news!!

The e-offering program is currently being tested by several members of the congregation and if all systems are a go

it will be offered to everyone in early fall. Complete instructions and information will be forth coming very soon. If you have any questions

now you can ask any member of the Finance Committee or our church treasurer.

Our annual Stewardship Campaign is the committee’s next big project and is currently in the early planning stage. Stay tuned!!

The Finance Committee is looking for several volunteers to serve on the committee. You do not need to be an accountant just need to care

about Holy Trinity Presbyterian and keeping it great. We would love to have you join us.

Thanks for your support and God Bless,

Pat Colucci, Vice Chair

Support the people and causes you love through your will!

Mission Committee

The Mission Committee has been busy with tours and discussions of future plans. We submitted a check to ECHO on behalf of our church. In addition we are anticipating future tours of Beacon of Hope on Pine Island, Hearts and Homes for Veterans and receiving more information regarding Thornwell Children’s Home in South Carolina which is endorsed and supported by the Presbyterian Church. It is our hope that church members will be able to reach out to our community in need. Larry Raber, Chairman

A July Message from the Music Department July is here, wow the summer is flying by fast. The praise team and summer choir are working hard to be contributing to the best worship services possible for our Lord Jesus Christ; 9:30 am for the contemporary service and 11:00 for our traditional service.

I believe the folks in North Fort Myers, Cape Coral, and even farther out know we have a reputation at HTPC of having amazing Christmas and Easter cantatas. So in that respect we have been lining up the Christmas cantata orchestra. And our Christmas cantata books will be in soon with learning parts on cd's for each part, soprano, alto, tenor and bass. Cantata practice will start in early September, an hour each week on Thursdays at 5:30, please consider joining the choir and or the Christmas cantata choir in September; we'll be giving books and cd's out in late July for a head start to the Christmas season for those so inclined. Praise the Lord with beautiful voices and melodic instruments! Paul Brewer

NOTES

It hurts to lose someone. Find help at GriefShare. GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life's most dif-ficult experiences. You don't have to go it alone. GriefShare starts Monday, July 10 at noon in Fel-lowship Hall. A lite lunch will be provided. If you or someone you know would benefit from the support of GriefShare please call the church to register or talk with Carol Dant, Nancy Rad or Luanne Putnam.

News from Congregational Care—Luanne Putnam The first pot luck dinner was a success with 30 attendees. Even the

much-needed rain did not deter anyone as ALL showed up. Dan Putnam grilled brats, burgers and chicken breasts and everyone seemed to enjoy the time spent together. The last dinner was June 21 and once again invitations were mailed out. We will plan a dinner for July and August. Keep an eye out for mailings. And again, if anyone is not now being contact-ed regularly by a care angel or a deacon, please let me know. You can call me at 731-2414 or email me at [email protected].

Worship Committee Bob Johnson continues to need someone as a backup the 1st Saturday of each month to train to oversee the preparation of the Holy Communion elements. If you have a couple of hours on the 1st Saturday of each month, please contact Bob. A reminder to Greeters: Busy Bags for children are available to visiting children as well as to our own. Be sure they know where to return them after the service.

Due to the absence of many of our members, there will be no meeting of the Worship Committee in July. Ruth and Terry Rickard

PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN ACTIVITIES

Last month I listed the new officers for Presbyterian Women, but I neglected to thank the two retiring officers for their service. I am hereby making up for that oversight. My heartfelt thanks to Bev Kuizema, Secretary, and Alice Clarcq, Vice-Moderator. As I stated before, we are on hiatus, but Bev Smith is already getting ready to do back

packs for the children at Mision Peniel. We will assemble the packs on Monday, August 14th. More on that next month. Being on hiatus means Council doesn’t meet, but it so happens that no circles will be meeting in July. Janet Rivero

Christian Education

Beginning July 16, the 9:45-10:30 Sunday Bible Study Class will be studying "Heroes of Faith." Adults and children are invited, led by Jane Robinson. This topic is similar to the one already in progress from 10:45-11:30 Sunday Bible Study Class led by a group of teachers. Both of these classes will join for a pizza party on August 27 ending the Summer Sunday Bible studies. Join one of the classes and later enjoy the party.

EVANGELISM

81 “First Time Visitor” Packets have been given out thus far in 2017. The new sign has

brought in at least one individual each Sunday since it has been in operation. Let's hope that this keeps

up.

Fran Smith has received 27 names from the Bulletin Insert of those that wish to participate in the Day Outings.

She is working with the Fellowship Committee to set up the first event. Stay tuned to the Sunday Bulletins, The

Messenger, and/or an announcement on a Sunday morning.

Membership Matters Classes will be held on July 16th and 23rd after the 11:00 service. A light lunch will be

served prior to each class. Members will be recognized before the congregation on July 30th. The Invitation letters

will go out around the first of July. In case someone is missed and would like to become a member of Holy Trinity,

or learn more about what a Presbyterian is, please call the church office (239-567-2246) and give Joyce (our new

secretary) your name and we will include you in this class. These classes are very informative and we enjoy bonding

with all those who attend these classes.

An Invitation/Application from the North Fort Myers Civic Association was received by Evangelism for Holy

Trinity to become a Community Member of that Committee. After discussion it was voted that Holy Trinity should

become a member of this organization as it is a means of outreach and participation in a community organization.

The representative from Holy Trinity would be able to interact with the participating members of that group and be

able to bring back to the church what this organization is planning to do in North Fort Myers.

Evangelism has purchased an ad in the forthcoming map of North Fort Myers that will be placed in various

places throughout Lee County and other public places to promote the development of new businesses, and the

promotion of the beautification of North Fort Myers.

A representative from Evangelism sat in on the new Arts and Cultural Committee of North Fort Myers at the

same organizational meeting of the North Fort Myers Civic Assn. They are looking for a building to use an Arts

Center. This will be used for music, theatre and other cultural presentations.

Beverly Smith, Chairman

CHURCHES VISITED:

I’ve received Bulletins from four different Church Services, several taking place upon the Emerald Princess. Three were from Cheryl Gabe & Jerry Strohmenger. Their journey from 4/4 to 5/11, took them to Australia, New Zealand, French Polynesia, and Hawaii. They attended Easter and two other Sunday Services aboard the cruise ship performed by High Seas Ministries, a non-profit dedicated to providing ministry aboard cruise ships.

On May 14th, Pat Colucci attended the Niskayuna Reformed Church of Niskayuna, NY. This Church was founded in 1750. She said she attended while visiting her daughter and family. St. John the Apostle United Methodist Church was visited by one of our parishioners on June 4th. A note was inserted: “I went to Texas to visit with my oldest son’s high school graduation. The graduating seniors were honored during Church with a prayer and the laying on of hands by their families. Also, during the service, my daughter-in-law, playing the piano and my grandson, playing the cello, played a duet - The Wisdom/How Great Thou Art. How wonderful to be a part of all this.” Another (un-signed) Church Bulletin was received a month ago from Lihue Baptist Church, Lihue, Hawaii where they attended service on January 1, 2017.

And lastly, I brought back a Church Program from St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church of Laurel Springs, NJ This is my daughter’s Church and is presently preparing for their very active Vacation Bible School. I hope everyone enjoys hearing of the travels of our members. When you are on your travels, please remember to bring us your Church Bulletin, and please, sign your name.

Thank you, Barbara Nase
