College Music Students To Give Annual Recital Staged in Mercy hurst's own Carnegie Hall, alias the Little Theater, the annual concert of the college| voice and piano students will be held on Sunday evening, March 27. A variety of numbers are to be included in the program. Compo sitions of Chopin, Beethoven, Brahms, M acDowell, Romber g, and others will be featured. At the piano, Pat Powers will play "The Polonaise In A Flat;" Mary Hurley, ""Sonata *Pathe- tique;" and Judy Roseberry, "Wan dering Iceberg" and "Swedish Rhapsody." Vocalist Sheila Flynn will ren der^ "An April Evening" and Speak's "Morning;" Patti Corri- gan will sing "II Bacio" and "Corn- in' Through the Rye." Foster/professor of English at the University of West Virginia, on March 24 an d 25 . He will address $ the college at two lectures, Educated in his native ^south land. Dr. Foster received his doc torate from Vanderbilt University in Tennessee. He is generally in terested in the literature of the south ,and is co-author of J th e critical appraisal "William Faulk ner." A popular professor in his own university, he has lectured at various colleges throughout the country* A The first of his talks, "Con- tempory Heresies," is scheduled for 8 P. M. Thursday, March 24. in the Little Theatre. This subject deals especially with heresies in reference to their influence in ar tistic circles. It will be followed Friday at 11:10 A. M. with a lec ture on "The Southern Literary Renaissance."! Joint Concert Programs* Se t By Glee Club One hundred voices of the Mer cyhurst Qlee Club will join with the eighty of the Oanisiusf Glee Club to present two concerts, April 24 and May 1. Mercyhurst Little Theatre will be the scene of the first concert, with the girls playing host to Ca- nislus at a dinner and dance fol lowing the concert. The formal affair will toe held in the college dining room and auditorium. May 1 will find the M ercyhurs t Glee Club participating in the sec ond joint concert at Kleinhan's Music Hall in Buffalo. There Ca- nisius will be host atlthe tradi tional dinner-dance at the Park Lane Hotel, following the program. Joint numbers selected for the spring presentation are "The Gandy Dancer's Ball" and "Alle luia." In recognition of their achievements, Audrey Hannah, Lorraine Reichel, and Marge Williams will receivelthe gold key and scroll of I the society. * Chosen by a committee of the founding membersjupon recommen dation of the college faculty, these girls were selected for their out standing scholarship, plus a ca pacity'to make learning effective by bringing the principles of Catholic philosophy to%ear upon society's problems. A welcome to the seniors in the name of the § Association will toe given by the president, Alice Reeder Lockhart. The Exe cutive Board includes the Alumnae officers and the presidents of the local chapters. Thus the evening will afford the class an oppor tunity to become acquainted with Alumnae leaders in their home town areas. Father Rooney became the di rector of Sodality promotion in 1953 at the Sodality Central Of- School Artists ExhibitWVork Gannon Commons tofBe Site Of Gala St Patrick's Dance Once again St. Patrick's Day is here, and shure 'n if it isn't time for Gannon's annual St. Pat's Day Dance to be held tonight in the Gannon Commons Room. The dance , {sponsored by th e Shield Athletic Association, will find many Mercyhurst colleens dancing the Irish Jig from nine 'till one. Among the smilin' guests will be Dlnty Moore, Jiggs, and his many cartoon friends decorating the walls with Irish gaiety. Besides beingfa regular con tributor to the Queen's Work and a poular retreat master and lec turer, Father Rooney has written several pamphlets and discussion outlines, all of which are publish ed by the Queen's Work. He is also the author of the book, "Adven tures of an Angel." Father, Rooney, as usual, will be glad to hold individual confer ences.
