"There's no place like home for the holidays . . ." And there's noplace like Mercyhurst the week before the holidays. Beginning on Wednesday, classmates sit together at dinner and set the tone of the weekwith Christmas carols and strains of "seven more days 'til vacation."? Activity and the Christmas spirit make these days go quickly.Instead of grumbling, we sing;! instead of asking, we give; insteadof wasting time, we decorate. Christmas carols are heard continuously,in every hall and lounge, for all are ready to join in at a mom ent's notice.Girls are seen going throughtheir jjclosets to see "what that Ipoor family could use more thanI." Others can be found standingon dressers, chairs, or anythingavailable in order to suspendChristmas decorations from theceilings of their rooms. Much Of Christmas \SpiritFound By History Hunter I

There's quite a bit of Christmas in the history of Mercyhurst. In her early days, the school included not only a high school andcollege, but also a gradeschool. Although these elementary grades wereeliminated in 1939, it was a group of primary students who were sresponsible for the purchase of the Infant formerly*used in the-foyer.Hearing of a life-size infant which had. crystal eyes, a group of English students pleaded to be allowed to collect money (or ita sum ofabout $80. So they acquired the Infant, an Italian reproduction of the
