Mayor’s Update

Dear Resident and Business Owner,

In honor of Valentine’s Day, let’s start February by showing some love!

We all owe a big thanks to the residents that have put years in on Council and in volunteer positions on Boards and Committees who have helped maintain and improve our Mendham Borough in countless ways. At our first meeting of the year in January we said goodbye to Mayor Henry, Councilman John Andrus, and Councilman Stan Witczak; they served this community for a collective nearly 60 years. We also watched as Steve Andrew and Brennan Reilly were sworn in and prepared to carry the baton as they plan for a proud Mendham future.

Who’s Who in Mendham: Jimmy Cillo has resided in Mendham for 84 short years. The youngest of 9 kids, he was born at 45 Mountain Avenue and immediately decided to stay. He attributes his success to the thorough education he received in our Mendham Borough schools. After attending high school, he served in the Navy towards the end of the Korean War. He started his Mendham career as a police officer and ultimately served a mere 32 years on the Mendham Police Force. After he retired from the force, he served on our own town Council for a term. Not one to idle his retirement years away, Jimmy joined the Mendham First Aid Squad and currently serves as the President. He recently celebrated his 20th year with the Squad. Please stop in on a Sunday morning and thank Chief Cillo and all our volunteers on the Squad!

Updates: Our many committees have begun the year by holding their first meeting known as the “Reorg” meeting. At this meeting they reaffirm their statutory mission and members vote in the Chair of the Board or Committee. There’s not a lot of business that takes place in the first meetings so stay tuned as in the future they will take turns
