PACK UP – Timbrels and Band
Pack up your troubles in your old kit-bag,
And smile, smile, smile,
While you've a ________ to light your fag,
Smile, boys, that's the style.
What's the use of worrying?
It never was worth while, so
Pack up your troubles in your old kit-bag,
And smile, smile, smile.
It's a long way to Tipperary,
It's a long way to go.
It's a long way to Tipperary
To the sweetest girl I know!
Goodbye, Piccadilly,
Farewell, Leicester Square!
It's a long long way to Tipperary,
But my heart's right there.
Psalm 139: 13 – 16 (NLT)
13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb.14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. 16 You saw me before I was born. Every day of mylife was recorded in your book. Every momentwas laid out before a single day had passed.
Dancing Feet
I woke up this morning with dancing feet
Dancing feet, dancing feet
I woke up this morning with dancing feet
And I danced all day long…
God made my feet God made my toes
God made my fingers God made my nose
God made my eyes so I can see
I’m glad that God made me
I woke up this morning with clapping hands...
I woke up this morning with tapping toes....
I woke up this morning with a smile on my face
I went to bed this evening with a yawning mouth
and I slept all night long1/1
Revelation 5: 13 (NLT)

“Blessing and honor and glory and power belong to the one sitting on the throne and to the Lamb forever and ever.”

Judges 6: 1,2,6,33,34 and Judges 7: 1- 9,16 -22a (NLT)
Gideon Becomes Israel’s Judge1 The Israelites did evil in the LORD’s sight. So the LORD handed them over to the Midianites for seven years. 2 The Midianites were so cruel that the Israelites made hiding places for themselves in the mountains, caves, and strongholds.6 So Israel was reduced to starvation by the Midianites. Then the Israelites cried out to the LORD for help.
Gideon Asks for a Sign33 Soon afterward the armies of Midian, Amalek, and the people of the east formed an alliance against Israel and crossed the Jordan, camping in the valley of Jezreel. 34 Then the Spirit of the LORD clothed Gideon with power. He blew a ram’s horn as a call to arms, and the men of the clan of Abiezer came to him.
Gideon Defeats the Midianites
7 So Jerub-baal (that is, Gideon) and his army got up early and went as far as the spring of Harod. The armies of Midian were camped north of them in the valley near the hill of Moreh. 2 The LORDsaid to Gideon, “You have too many warriors with you. If I let all of you fight the Midianites, the Israelites will boast to me that they saved themselves by their own strength. 3 Therefore, tell the people, ‘Whoever is timid or afraid may leave this mountain[a] and go home.’” So 22,000 of them went home, leaving only 10,000 who were willing to fight.4 But the LORD told Gideon, “There are still too many! Bring them down to the spring, and I will test them to determine who will go with you and who will not.” 5 When Gideon took his warriors down to the water, the LORD told him, “Divide the men into two groups. In one group put all those who cup water in their hands and lap it up with their tongues like dogs. In the other group put all those who kneel down and drink with their mouths in the stream.” 6 Only 300 of the men drank from their hands. All the others got down on their knees and drank with their mouths in the stream.7 The LORD told Gideon, “With these 300 men I will rescue you and give you victory over the Midianites. Send all the others home.” 8 So Gideon collected the provisions and rams’ horns of the other warriors and sent them home. But he kept the 300 men with him.
The Midianite camp was in the valley just below Gideon. 9 That night the LORD said, “Get up! Go down into the Midianite camp, for I have given you victory over them!
Judges 6: 1,2,6,33,34 and Judges 7: 1- 9,16 -22a (NLT)
16 He divided the 300 men into three groups and gave each man a ram’s horn and a clay jar with a torch in it.17 Then he said to them, “Keep your eyes on me. When I come to the edge of the camp, do just as I do. 18 As soon as I and those with me blow the rams’ horns, blow your horns, too, all around the entire camp, and shout, ‘For the LORD and for Gideon!’”19 It was just after midnight,[c] after the changing of the guard, when Gideon and the 100 men with him reached the edge of the Midianite camp. Suddenly, they blew the rams’ horns and broke their clay jars. 20 Then all three groups blew their horns and broke their jars. They held the blazing torches in their left hands and the horns in their right hands, and they all shouted, “A sword for the LORD and for Gideon!”21 Each man stood at his position around the camp and watched as all the Midianites rushed around in a panic, shouting as they ran to escape. 22 When the 300 Israelites blew their rams’ horns, the LORD caused the warriors in the camp to fight against each other with their swords. Those who were not killed fled to places as far away as Beth-shittahnear Zererah and to the border of Abel-meholah near Tabbath.

2 Corinthians 12: 1 – 10 (NIV)
Paul’s Vision and His Thorn
12 I must go on boasting. Although there is nothing to be gained, I will go on to visions and revelations from the Lord. 2 I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not know—God knows. 3 And I know that this man—whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, but God knows— 4 was caught up to paradise and heard inexpressible things, things that no one is permitted to tell. 5 I will boast about a man like that, but I will not boast about myself, except about my weaknesses. 6 Even if I should choose to boast, I would not be a fool, because I would be speaking the truth. But I refrain, so no one will think more of me than is warranted by what I do or say, 7 or because of these surpassingly great revelations. Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
The Salvation Army - Articles of War - A Soldier’s Covenant1. We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New
Testaments were given by inspiration of God, and that they only constitute the Divine rule of Christian faith and practice.
2. We believe that there is only one God who is infinitely perfect the Creator Preserver and Governor of all things and who is the only proper object of religious worship.
3. We believe that there are three persons in the Godhead-the Father the Son and the Holy Ghost undivided in essence and co-equal in power and glory.
4. We believe that in the person of Jesus Christ the Divine and human natures are united that He is truly and properly God and truly and properly man.
5. We believe that our first parents were created in a
state of innocence, but by their disobedience they lost their purity and happiness and that in consequence of their fall all men have become sinners totally depraved and as such are justly exposed to the wrath of God.
6. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has by His suffering and death made an atonement for the whole world so that whosoever will may be saved.
7. We believe that repentance towards God faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, and regeneration by the Holy Spirit are necessary to salvation.
8. We believe that we are justified by grace through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and that he that believeth hath the witness in himself.
9. We believe that continuance in a state of salvation depends upon continued obedient faith in Christ.
10. We believe that it is the privilege of all believers to be wholly sanctified and that their whole spirit and soul and body may be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
11. We believe in the immortality of the soul; in the resurrection of the body; in the general judgment at the end of the world; in the eternal happiness of the righteous; and in the endless punishment of the wicked.
20 And there was Benaiah (Jehoiada’s son), son of a great
man from Kabzeel, who also did great deeds. He struck down two lionhearted heroes of Moab. Benaiah also killed a lion in a pit one snowy day, 21 and he killed an Egyptian who was a powerful-looking man. The Egyptian was armed with a spear while Benaiah had only his staff, but he took the spear away from him and killed the Egyptian with his own weapon.
2 Samuel 23: 20 - 21
What lions do we need to chase?
What fears do we need to face?
What uncertainty do we need to embrace?
What risks do we need to take?
What opportunities do we need to seize?
Courage
It’s doing the best you can with what you have
where you are. Spiritual maturity is seeing and seizing God-ordained opportunities. Think of every opportunity as God’s gift to you. What you do with those opportunities is your gift to God. I’m absolutely convinced that our greatest regrets in life will be missed opportunities.
Mark Batterson
He didn’t focus on his disadvantages
He didn’t make excuses
He didn’t try and avoid the situation
Benaiah
God is bigger and more powerful than any problem
at all that they face in this world. They are willing to move forward in the face of adversity because they know that impossible odds set the stage for amazing miracles. That is how God reveals his glory. Sometimes God won’t intervene until something is humanly impossible.
Lion Chasers
1 The Israelites did evil in the Lord’s sight. So the
Lord handed them over to the Midianites for seven years. 2 The Midianites were so cruel that the Israelites made hiding places for themselves in the mountains, caves, and strongholds. 6 So Israel was reduced to starvation by the Midianites. Then the Israelites cried out to the Lord for help.
Judges 6 Gideon becomes Israel’s Judge
Then they cried out to the Lord because of Midian, the Lord
sent a prophet to the Israelites. He said, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says:
I brought you up out of slavery in Egypt.
I rescued you from the Egyptians and from all who oppressed you.
I drove out your enemies and gave you their land.
I told you, ‘I am the Lord your God. You must not worship the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you now live.’
Judges 6 Gideon becomes Israel’s Judge
Verses 11 – 14 Call to Gideon to be Israel’s deliverer
Gideon’s responses….Why did this happen to us? How can I rescue Israel? My clan is the weakest, I am the least.
Does this remind you of anyone? – Moses! Ourselves!
Judges 6
I will be with you.
Verse 12 The Lord is with you
Verse 14 I am sending you
Verse 16 I will be with you.
God’s response
2 The Lord said to Gideon, “You have too many
warriors with you. If I let all of you fight the Midianites, the Israelites will boast to me that they saved themselves by their own strength. 3 Therefore, tell the people, ‘Whoever is timid or afraid may leave this mountain and go home.’” So 22,000 of them went home, leaving only 10,000 who were willing to fight.
Judges 7
4 But the LORD told Gideon, “There are still too many! Bring them down to the spring, and I will test them to determine who will go with you and who will not.”
Judges 7
7 The Lord told Gideon, “With these 300 men I will
rescue you and give you victory over the Midianites. Send all the others home.”
Judges 7
With an army this outnumbered there could
be NO DOUBT that victory was from God.
Maybe our impossible situations are actually opportunities to experience a new bigger dimension of God’s glory.
God’s glory
Can I hold my breath going past this
cemetery?
Can I hold my breath the whole length of
this tunnel?
Can I swim the whole length of the pool
underwater?
Questions!
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the
earth. 2 The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.
Genesis 1
If we keep in step with the Spirit, God is going to
make sure we get where He wants us to go.
One of the seven skills we need to be a lion chaser?
Keeping in step with the Spirit; getting ourselves in
tune with the Spirit.
Gallipoli - Memorial at Anzac Cove by Ataturk, 1934
“Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives....
You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country.
Therefore rest in peace.
There is no difference between the Jonnies
and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by
side here in this country of ours...
You, the mothers, who sent their sons from
faraway countries, wipe away your tears; your sons
are now lying in our bosom and are in peace, after having
lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as
well.”
